DCF Frankfurt - Jan 2021

Hey there,

anyone else file their I-130 IR1/CR1 in Frankfurt as a DCF (exceptional circumstances)? It's really difficult to find timelines of others who are in a similar position. We're hoping to receive the visa within 3-4 months. Any advice from those who are further along in their journey?

For others who are looking to request an exception to file directly in Frankfurt: The e-mail addresses listed on the USCIS and Consulate websites are NOT correct. You'll want to contact frnuscisinquiries@state.gov with proof of the exceptional circumstance. A reply will take about 2 weeks.

Cheers!

We rarely get exceptional circumstances DCF filers here, which I guess makes sense because that's what makes it "exceptional". I would recommend to just keep coming back and bumping your thread periodically with updates so that it doesn't get lost, and maybe in the chance another DCF Frankfurt filer is around, they will see your thread and reply.

Timeline

Not impossible but unusual, since DCF is for exceptional circumstances the numbers have gone way down.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

We also got approved for DCF in Frankurt.

However, we are still waiting for the confirmation of our i130 withdrawal at USCIS before we can officialy start the process with the consulate. Hope that comes sooner than later...

Would be nice if you could keep us updated. Good luck!

Our I-130 was officially approved today via e-mail, 14 days after Frankfurt received it!

We didn't receive an NOA1 nor a receipt, so we asked 5 days ago via e-mail whether we would receive that. The Frankfurt Consulate answered within 5 minutes(!). The case had just been approved that day and we would receive official notice soon with further instructions -- that came in today via e-mail.

The 'further instructions' (equivalent to Packet 3 at the NVC) specifically for Frankfurt DCF can be found at https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/iv-application-instructions/. So do check that out, you could get some of those documents already now.

On to the next step! The I-864 is going to be interesting as we'll qualify based on the beneficiary's assets. We don't have current U.S. income, nor joint sponsors, nor any IRS paperwork...

I sent the I-130 via DHL Paket and I’m sending in Packet 3 via DHL Paket today.

Normal mail is not wide enough for my binder (25cm).

I read that some items do not have to be translated. Do you thinks that's the case if the police report is in german or should we have it translated and certified?

For I-130, our German evidence for bonafide marriage (e.g. shared utility bills, liability insurance, car insurance) was accepted.

For Packet 3 (you mentioned the police certificate), official guidelines state that they accept documents in both German and English. See the first page of the pdf that’s on the page you quoted.

Interesting. I thought all the I-130 stuff had to be in English. But it makes sense if it's okay for package 3.
