The process took about 15min at the airport. They took fingerprints right at the counter and the officer asked for the yellow envelope packet. Taken to another station and waited for them to go through it. Another officer came back with the stamped passport and said the physical card should not take more than 6 months to arrive. The only question asked was to verify the address.

We mailed the package for my kids on May 14th. I am rather nervous on how fast they are processing it. We do not have exceptional circumstances but we are an active duty military family. My husband and I are both US citizens but my kids are not. Because I am struggling to prove the five years physical residency, we applied for the I-130 rather than the n-600k.

And it got approved today! We are so incredibly grateful.

Yes, we got accepted for DCF in Frankfurt last November. My wife submitted the I-130 petition on December 7 and it got approved on January 19. We submitted package 3 yesterday and hope to get some answer within 30 days, but we will see.

Hi, may I know what was the reason of your DCF or the exceptional circumstance? Thanks!

Hi All,

an update on my end - waiting now on the delivery of my passport- I had my Interview June 1st. It was quite busy in Frankfurt and I was advised that processing time may take between 7-10 days - gambling on next week with a flight booked on June 14th.

I can also advise to get the physical appointment early and also take the early morning slot as they have plenty of parking prior 8:30 in the back , quite unique for Frankfurt Westend.

Unfortunately I was hit with a lot of public holidays , starting March 22nd with the DCF approval to the interview slot June 6th.

Good luck all and I will post the date of my final passport delivery!

Our I-130 was officially approved today via e-mail, 14 days after Frankfurt received it!

We didn't receive an NOA1 nor a receipt, so we asked 5 days ago via e-mail whether we would receive that. The Frankfurt Consulate answered within 5 minutes(!). The case had just been approved that day and we would receive official notice soon with further instructions -- that came in today via e-mail.

The 'further instructions' (equivalent to Packet 3 at the NVC) specifically for Frankfurt DCF can be found at https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/iv-application-instructions/. So do check that out, you could get some of those documents already now.

On to the next step! The I-864 is going to be interesting as we'll qualify based on the beneficiary's assets. We don't have current U.S. income, nor joint sponsors, nor any IRS paperwork...

Hi, may I am also curious with the I-864 , may I ask what did you submit to support this? Thanks!

Hi everyone! We were approved for DCF with Frankfurt due to a short notice of job relocation (two months!) and sent our I-130 off a few days ago. DHL tracking shows the Embassy received it on 14 April. Will update with any news!

Hi!

I just wanted to ask what email did you use to get an approval for DCF? My husband also got a job offer from US and he is half german half american. ALso, may I ask what documents did you submit to prove this circumstance?

Thank you! and keep us updated :)

We went Assets-only and submitted account statements with more than enough assets to beat 5x the poverty level on a 2 person household, which is about 110k USD.

No US income or US assets were included.

When you say "asset-only", does that mean your German bank accounts and real properties? Thank you

Thank you for your answer.

But I am still confused. Do we need to open a US bank account and transfer money there from my german bank account? Or do we just need to show our German bank statements?

Thank you again!

This is false — According to USCIS „sponsors may include the value of their home“

@cyndallita Please see the official instructions at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/i-864-affidavit-faqs.html#aos13

The only way to be safe is to have a (joint) sponsor with US income >125% of the federal poverty level since that is how it’s spelled out in the law. Going with assets is entirely at the discretion of the consular officer. As long as you can convince the officer that the immigrant won’t become a public charge for 10 years this won’t be a problem.

As a guideline USCIS provides some pointers on how they usually handle assets, as outlined in the link above. A sponsor can replace a missing income dollar with five US asset dollars. (That’s what the website now says — 2 months ago it’s was three). This can be cash, bonds, stock, property etc. as long as it can be liquid and transferred to the US within a year (this is not a problem in Germany — other countries have restrictions on moving finances). The value of the first car you own may not be included.

There is no official provision for sponsors to be able to include foreign assets. It’s at the discretion of the consular officer anyway. Be noted that you will always have to show the source of your assets, for example with statements going back a year. This is to prevent a relative just wiring you some money, you taking a screenshot, and then wiring it back.

The immigrant can include foreign assets (but not foreign income unless it will continue from the same source in the US). In that case every missing income dollar can be replaced with five asset dollars.

Do you have a source for that? What limits it to 10 years?
