So given all the anxiety and uncertainty we've all been experiencing during these times, I'm starting this thread so we can all share ways on how we chill out, destress and relax. Whether you're waiting for your visa, sick of the Covid lockdowns, fed up with politics....leave it at the door, grab a cup of tea and dust off your favorite New Age/ambient records....share your favorite relaxing music or inspirational quotes, or even humor, whatever helps you unwind. 🍵

I really like this idea. People on this site can get so worked up about so many things. Sometimes justified, sometimes not.

I love 432 hz sleep music playlist on Spotify. Also, some good meditation apps for a great sleep are “guided minds” and “let’s meditate”. There are different tracks you can listen to. They practice different breathing techniques while trying to sleep. The first time I listened to “Deep relaxation” on the “let’s meditate” app, I had the deepest and most relaxing sleep I’ve had in years.

I've heard about those....sounds intriguing. My mother told me about one with special headphones that you can sleep to, but she was rudely awakened by an ad in the middle of the night! I hope there are some without ads.

Has anyone heard about float therapy, or float pods? I'm wondering about it....there are a couple here, one offers the sensory deprecation tank (which sounds a little unnerving), and others have more of a room you can go in, which sounds more appealing to me. Has anyone tried it?

If you're not locked down, consider attending garage sales and estate sales.

These are typically run on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays.

You can find great bargains, see interesting items, and meet all kinds of people.

I love second hand shopping. Haven't been to estate or garage sales in a while, Russian husband is weirded out by it because the culture of second hand shopping is not as robust there...it's mostly limited to flea markets, which tend to specialize in (questionable) antiques or military stuff, so not really the same as just digging through random piles and hoping to find something good. That reminds me of Antiques Roadshow...haven't watched that in ages. Americans seem to have a much more open culture about recycling/resuing old things, which is good. Russians get superstitious about wearing used clothing ("what if someone died in it?" etc) but I'm hoping to convince him one day that it's a win/win for everyone...reducing waste, reusing still perfectly good things, and saving money.
