SoCal is where it's at.  Except its expensive.  San Diego is one of my fav places to go.     I like 4 seasons.  I really do.  Houston has 2 seasons: devil's sweaty ball sack and not summer.

And here in FL I'm doing that almost every night now.   I have solar pool heating and it's been on a while, but the pool seemed way too warm last week.  Checked and the pool was 90.  Decided

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I know the screened pools are more common in FL. Not so much around here.  Our HOA would take that as an opportunity to collect an exorbitant amount of money to see your plans and inspect the enclosure.

No HOA for me.  Been there, done that.  I'm on 2 1/2 acres just a short distance from town, out in the woods.

 

The county is the one that looks at the plans. charges the money, makes you wait way too long, and inspects.  Mine was part of the house when I built and is attached.  Like having a huge extra room at the back of the house.

I'd never encountered an HOA until I moved to Texas.  Last I checked, my hard earned money was paying the mortgage and taxes.  I shouldn't need permission to paint my damned house or put a new roof on it!

This thread has gone from ... oh I can't wait to swim this summer to URGH HOAs... 

Be happy you don't live in Korea. Here the apartments all have loudspeakers wired in to the ceiling. 

The entire complex has been getting messages all week at 8AM reminding us not to play the piano after 10PM....

Our previous apartment the complaint in our online forum was always about 

 people using their massage chairs late at night 

 

I can tell you right now... the piano playing I hear is AWFUL... we wear headphones or switch on the TV in our house whenever little MinSu has to practice.

When we were visiting Tokyo, many people headed to the park to play their instruments.  Some were very good, others...not so much.  Piano doesn't work so well.

I miss Japan!

I wish we could visit before we have to move to the US but it is still closed.

I've been to a few places. 

Went to visit a friend in Hiroshima. We visited with one of his friends and he quipped "ROK2USA went to Korea for the money I came to Japan for happiness" 😅

I would have moved there but I met my husband and got my dream job so Korea it is...
