I know I am asking a very general question here and it depends on each individuals case and the added delays of Covid, but how long can I generally expect my visa to be approved by.

If I was to be more specific, before we first filed in September 2020, we thought I would be able to get approved and move within a year by August-September 2021, but now I am unsure of that timeline.

The reason I am asking is because I am finishing my studies by this summer and entering the education field as a teacher. However, with teaching, unlike other jobs I believe, I would need to apply now for a September start and even if I wanted to leave my job, the earliest it would be is December. Even then, I would need to file a notice of leave in October months in advance and is generally not good practice to leave a teaching job within the first few months as a NEW teacher and leave the school hanging to find a replacement that quick. So my dilemma here is whether I should still apply for a September teaching job whilst I wait for my visa or just stay at home after summer with the risk of staying home jobless for months on end.

So what I'm asking is, what is MORE LIKELY - getting my visa approved around summer (Aug-Sep), around December 2021 or in 2022 possibly? Just so I can make suitable career plans after my studies this summer before my move.

My vote end of the year.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

All we can do is surmise, really.  It depends on how long an interview backlog there is in London by the time you clear NVC.  We can't even estimate that because your petition isn't approved yet.  What I generally tell people who have filed lately, is to expect 18 to 24 months from petition filing, but it can all vary based on what happens with COVID.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

My fiancé and I have discussed switching our K-1 to CR1 but I can't let go of the hope that we'll be together this year. Highly doubt if we file a CR1 in the next couple weeks, we'd get approved and be together this year - even at the end. I mean, it gets more unlikely with the K-1, too. But, I'm really hoping you'll be able to start your life with your partner soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Keep checking the timelines of other people in your situation!

As a reference, there are two in the UK who started Dec 2019 with Jan 2021 interviews. (13 months). Another with a December interview started Mar 2020. (9 months).

Thank you, that puts things into perspective.

You can see how there’s a variable and interviews aren’t in order of when they submitted the petition. Some got delayed by the initial closure of the embassy. They have continuously done interviews once  they reopened, starting with limited days of the week then adding a day, but with the latest stricter UK tiers, the Wednesday appointments in January got rescheduled for February. Perhaps the stricter lockdown  made it more difficult for employees to get there or they are quarantining because infections have risen so sharply. Anyway, London seems to have recently reduced interview days to exclude Wednesdays. Just another timeline variable that is impossible to predict in the months leading up to new changes

With recent developments I not think 2022 sometime.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Welcome to the world of uncertainty.

Personal tip: Don't get excited. It will take long.

As others said, I would definitely not expect it done this year.
