Hello All,

I am elated to find this forum. I have an upcoming K-1 visa interview a month away in Ethiopia and my fiancé visited me while I was working in Uganda. She has an entry stamp but no exit stamp. Will this be an issue as they check her passport?

I tried contacting the Ugandan Embassy and they haven't gotten back to me.

As you were told on Reddit, no issue.

I'm glad it could be reiterated here. The terse "no." had me scouring the internet for more answers and it led to this wonderful find.

Apologies for taking asking it again, I just see this forum has much more knowledge and activity than the reddit sub.

I think some countries including the U.S. have other means of controlling border exits and I think it should be okay if you don't have one for Uganda as long as that's the rule of the land. I don't see  a possibility where  border control officers will let someone go with out exit stamp where it is required. Besides, if one wants to prove they haven't overstayed their visa in any country, it is possible to show the validity of the visa along with the entry stamp on their country's passport. For instance, if your fiancé is ethiopian, Ethiopian immigration will put stamp on her passport when she returns from Uganda. I hope this helps.

Btw, when you said you have an interview in a month time, does this mean, you have already been given an interview date for an interview in Addis?

An exit stamp for a petitioner is not a requirement. We have not heard from anyone else that an exit stamp was crucial for their interview. If asked be honest with your answer.

That's what I'm hoping but I have an exit visa from Uganda.

Yes, I have an interview January 19th.

I will ask one more question which is more a confirmation of my sanity than anything else.

In my original interview scheduled for March they sent me standard instructions for what to bring to the interview. Proof of relationship, I-134, passport photos, medical exam, police certificate, birth certificate, confirmation page.

In my latest interview they only sent me a link to this: Immigrant Visa Overview | Official U.S. Department of State Visa Appointment Service | Ethiopia | English (usvisa-info.com) then more specifically for the K-1 visa here: Fiancé(e) Visa | U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia

A few issues with those links. The first link is for immigrant visas and asks for documents like an I-864 affidavit of support which I don't need, correct, only the I-134 affidavit of support. The I-1864 ask for a ton more info.

The second link, which specifically is for K-1 visas says to submit a DS-260, which is just purely wrong, no? I have a DS-160, no DS-260.

Am I just going crazy? I feel as if I should follow the original instructions they gave me. When I call to ask they tell me they can't answer my questions and by email they are just ambiguous.

Ohh, congratulations on securing the interview date. If you don't mind me asking, was this an expedite or they simply rescheduled you?

I had been calling frequently and talking to my congressman about my case. I have no idea if that had any impact.

But, my original interview was scheduled for March 19th, the embassies closed on March 17th. So I may have just been at the front of the line for rescheduling.

Thank you very much. This gives me some hope. I wish you all the best in your interview.

Don't apologize for double checking. I trust Visajourney more than I trust people on the USCIS/Immigration subreddits.

Yes, DS-160 and I-134 for K1.  DS-260 and I-864 are not required for K1 visa interview.

K1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, but is processed by the Immigrant Visa unit.  So you sometimes get these "recycled" links to immigrant visa procedures that don't quite apply to K1 processing.
