Nashville Bombing

I hope everyone's Christmas has been a safe and happy one. Unfortunately it looks like we have a terrorist attack this morning, with the bombing in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. 

 

Have to say I've pondered this all morning and have been reading a lot about some odd events that happened in TN this year.

 

1) This was a big bomb. Incredible damage and felt for miles and miles away. Anyone want to speculate about the training or possibility of construction? Doubtful an idiot would construct this.. needed a lot of knowledge? Sophisticated? Group or indiviual?

2) It was not exactly intended to kill people - it was very early morning when no one was around (it was due to become very crowded this evening). Do not think this was a Jihadi, doesn't fit the motivation.

3) However, multiple times beforehand witnesses reported hearing loud gunfire they couldn't place. Some speculation it was an audio recording. 911 calls placed, were luring LEOs to the area.

4) The RV which housed the device started blaring an "evacuation message" over a bullhorn. Nothing really identifying about the message.. sounds straight out of The Purge. Terrifying.

5) When LEOs arrived seemed to time with the explosion. Was early speculation that this could be a dirty bomb but no evidence so far. Only a few were injured. Severe damage though.

6) Location chosen interesting but also odd. Close to some government buildings (closed) of note and some landmarks, but was parked outside of nondescript restaurants/apartments and an AT&T data center.

7) In June it should be noted that a full page advertisement twice appeared in the Tennessean newspaper. A crazed group or individual claimed that 'Islam' would detonate a dirty bomb in the middle of Nashville on the 18th of that month which would supposedly spark a civil war, Trump as Messiah/king, and the Tribulation (don't ask it's nutters). Outcry pulled the ad and the newspaper were investigating it's origin. Some leads pointed to a far-right religious cult with a PO box out of Arkansas. No idea if the people mentioned are even real names or if it's a real church or organization. Website directed to was full of pure manifesto insanity. But I do feel like this could be a big clue here.

 

I am intrigued and extremely concerned. Let us hope the FBI catch them. Have a feeling they will do this again. This was clearly a warning...

Thanks for typing this up here, I swear it's easier to get to-the-point news on VJ these days than reading actual news sources (where everything's become so sensationalized).

 

Why Nashville of all places? I mean not to dunk on that city but just seems like such a random target. Was not aware of the weird full page ad, that is mighty strange....sometimes you can't tell if people are just trolling or being serious, but who even reads physical newspapers anymore? The whole thing is bizarre.

Asked myself that question all day... and I keep coming back to that newspaper ad. The dude that posted it is a heretic outcast from the SDA church. They disavow him, but he has had an online presence for a while. Nashville (and the ''prophecy'' he talks about) has to do with a leader that would have visions in the late 1800s early 1900s. In particular she would see fireballs and flaming arrows destroying Nashville, starting the 'Tribulation' and the end of the world.. or something (end of the world fanatical language has been ramping up lately). Now what's interesting is when you think of bombings, one of McVeigh's motivations in 1995 was revenge for the offshoot SDA cult (Branch Davidians) massacre at Waco in '93. He used a box truck for his big bomb and of course had a purpose of attacking government and killing people. Not the same motivation here, but no doubt this person has proved they could and would do the same if they have the opportunity. I'm just not sure of the motivation here, it's so very odd but I did find the possible SDA connection here unusual. Some remains have been found, unknown what they belong to.

 

Now here is another weird tidbit people have been digging into today. Really disturbing stuff.  You'll need to click through to the whole thread but I hope the authorities are investigating.

What is it about dangerous cults breaking off from the SDA church? I've been listening to a podcast about the Ant Hill Kids cult in Quebec in the 70s/80s and the leader broke off from the SDA. Absolutely horrific stuff. I won't link, I only suggest Googling if you have a strong stomach.

They identified a person of interest, but he may have perished with the explosion making this a suicide bombing. It's all so curious.

Some tibits I've gleaned over these past days:

 

1)Anthony Warner was the bomber. He was 63 and is dead.

2) Prior felony conviction in 79-80.

3) Owned a IT security company. May have had prior experience with explosives.

4) Father used to work for Bellsouth before it became ATT.

5) FBI BAU is working the angle that he was upset about 5G conspiracies. They will not comment though what the ideology is.

6) Mysteriously has been signing over property to a young woman that lives in CA. She claims to have never met him. UK papers seem to have claimed to see some creepy messages written to her by him though. 

7) Two tips were called into the FBI before this event happened. Don't know what they were.

8 ) In 2019 someone called in a tip to say they believed he was building a bomb. Why did no one check this out? How did they know?

9) Bomb probably need a long time to make, could be similar to McVeigh's design.

10) In March another RV was stopped that had a PA system attached and was carrying guns. Unknown if related.

11) Today a box truck was stopped playing a similar PA system ''evacuate'' message. Thankfully the bomb squad determined this was a hoax and the person is arrested.

12) Officers reported hearing the evacuation warning and the song "Downtown" before it exploded. Theory that gunshots were also recorded.

13) Because of the critical infrastructure of ATT hit, internet, phone, air traffic, even cashpoints were all cut. Apparently the damage is crazy extensive. This building in particular was the target.

 

I think it's going to take a long time to unpack this, beyond him simply being crazy.

The church has a few set of beliefs unique to 'end-times' theology and prophecy perhaps even more so than evangelicals, though the two seem to be near intersecting these days. It's not hard to see though how someone posting something like that in a newspaper, could inspire those mentally ill.

Throckmorton, who served as the woman's attorney, told officers Warner "frequently talks about the military and bomb making," the document said.

Warner "knows what he is doing and is capable of making a bomb," the attorney said to the officers, according to the report.

In an interview Tuesday night, Throckmorton told The Tennessean he urged police at the time to look into the woman's claim. He said she feared for her safety, believing Warner may harm her.

It would seem that the state police and the local FBI dropped the ball big time. They can sit there and mumble about warrants all they want, but I know if Warner had been a Muslim man being accused of making bombs in his basement and having quite the gun collection - they'd be jumping all over it. I don't know what became of the ex-girlfriend, but I hope she's okay. She did the right thing.
