I am pretty sure all my fiancées clothes and things will not fit in our luggage even if I find a way to meet her to escort her to USA hopefully in first half of 21'

I know in the Philippines there is some sort of a standard box and fee for shipments each way.

One place I looked said using thai post is a good method

Also I am trying to get her to try on all of her clothes and try to reduce things that don't fit or she or I don't like. Any advice on that?   I love to see a woman try on clothes and while I want her top have her own style it is hard for her to imagine living in a snowy 4 season climate.   ITs not that she has so many things only for a hot climate as it gets to 38c here in summer.

My cousin moved from Malaysia to Hong Kong. She used freight service because it's cheaper when shipping a large volume. You can always check with DHL. The more expensive options would be UPS and FedEx.

Now when I moved from Malaysia to the US, I only flew with 2 large suitcases with some clothes, some luxury purses that I wasn't willing to give away nor have time to sell, some local food stuff for me and my then-fiance plus 1 carry-on consisting of various original documents and stuff for immigration paperwork.

I literally gave away most of my belongings and threw away stuff that were either too old or useless to pass on to someone. While I didn't have trouble doing that, I'm sure most people would especially ladies 😂😂😂

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

It isn’t worth it to ship clothes.  The thrift shops in the US will provide clothes more suitable to the climate where she will be living and at affordable prices.

Agree that it's not worth shipping clothes unless it's some really high-end stuff. I don't know what it's like in the Phillippines but I know of several other countries where the clothes and fashion are a tad bit different than the US fashion. Many people would like to get a new wardrobe when moving to the US for this reason, maybe your fiancè would want to do the same?

As most gents know clothes are a sensitive issue.  Shoes maybe the next level.  She uses a uniform at work and never really had a nightlife. But she seems to have enjoyed shopping... she has told me sometimes a woman cant resist buying something she thinks is beautiful.  Or a good sale.  So many things she has never worn. I dont think anything is designer stuff.

I was thinking if a  20 kg box would be less than 100$ this might be worthwhile.  She wont be needing a container. Just clothes and sentimental stuff.  I cant complain about her having a hard time reducing stuff as I have  a crazy amount of stuff.  A shed full... of course my tools and stuff is valuable... haha... I need to try on all my clothes and sort stuff too.

I agree with the poster that said it not worth it.  It’s very expensive. Although, my wife is from Thailand and moved here to Iowa almost 5 years ago.  She still hates the clothing styles here in the US.  There is also the issue of size.  My wife is very small and she has a hard time finding nice clothing for adult women in her size here.   When my wife moved here because I flew back to the US with her we had 4 large suitcases just for her.  All of my cloths were in a large carryon.  So we got most of her clothes over here but she had nothing for winter when she arrived in November.  To this day she orders her clothes from a website in China because it’s cheap and she gets the size and styles she wants.  It takes a little longer to arrive but it makes her happy.  And of course that’s most important, right guys? 😂. Just my 2 cents.

Under most circumstances, thrift shops will indeed be a gold mine.

Mrs. T-B. arrived in the U.S. with one smallish suitcase.

She was amazed at the concept of thrift/resale shops.

In Ecu, people wear stuff until it falls apart, and no one has extra stuff to sell or donate.

We set forth to establish her wardrobe.

We even centered weekend road trips around visiting "every thrift store in X city."*

Very soon, her closet was quite full with stylish, weather-appropriate, often designer stuff.

Later, when her family came to visit, they too were amazed and partook of this opportunity.

After laundering or dry-cleaning, no one would have ever guessed the origin of the garments.

*with added boons of sharing time together, "bonding" during a joint mission, seeing the sights in various cities of our choice while on the mission, and scoring some fantastic deals

Hi, I am the fiancee with a lot of clothes and books (anywhere from 110-150kgs), particularly music books that would be expensive to repurchase in the US. So my question is can I have those items shipped over as personal effects of my fiance who is a US citizen? He is going to come see me in May and undergo the whole 7-day quarantine thing. Or can it just be under my name but addressed to him as the sender even though I haven't got my K1 visa yet?

What would your advice be? Normally I'll all for buying stuff all over again, but since I do have a shipping allowance for the end of contract with my company, I plan to make full use of it. I know the better solution would be to wait to get my K1 but my tenancy is coming to an end so I am moving to somewhere smaller and more temporary, and I don't fancy doing the move with the stuff that I've already earmarked for the US.
