My wife's documents have been accepted by NVC since the end of April.  Embassy is still closed to non emergency interviews.  No one really knows when it will reopen.  I read on these forums that the American Ambassador to Pakistan is changing in September so maybe then we will hear something.

Unfortunately a change in Ambassadors rarely means a change in how consular services are done.  The funding for consular services is not a discretionary amount.  Staff levels are based on the applicants, ability to staff the section with both career foreign service officers and local staff,  and the operation is funded by the collection of user fees.  No US taxpayer money is used to fund consular services.

The local status of COVID and the ability for foreign service officers to return and to get vetted local ancillary staff is what drives consulate reopenings.

Yes I did. The embassy rejected the request. On the plus side, my wife has a 5 year multi-entry B2 Visa from before we applied for the IR1 and she is here on a visit at the moment (she was granted a 6 month entry). Hopefully by then she will have the interview date at the embassy in Islamabad.

Apparently, a user on here from Pakistan is being rescheduled for interview next week, (September 2020) that was cancelled in March 2020. So maybe... we can expect some progress on the re-scheduled interviews soon from now onwards and maybe DQ's ones by November/December 2020 Inshallah. (My guess)..
