Gun Ownership - would it affect my process?

I was wondering if owning a firearm - of course legally - would affect me being considered for citizenship?

 

Does anybody have any experience or knowledge on this? 

 

I'm currently awaiting my citizenship interview in the state of NJ but of course it has been slowed down due to everything going on.

Legally is the key word and of course you are not a felon...so I don't see how it should affect your quest for citizenship

Legal for a green card holder to own a gun

 

Green Card holders are foreign nationals who are lawful permanent residents. Green Card holders may buy firearms under the exact same procedures any citizen must follow. ... Foreign Nationals on non-immigrant visas, may buy a firearm if they possess a valid non-resident hunting license.

 

for everyone it is up to each state laws for carrying a concealed weapon

carrying a hunting gun in your car

keeping a loaded gun in the house

buying and selling

getting a hunting licence

In some states ONLY citizens can buy and own guns but in some other states both Green Card holders and Citizens can buy and own guns. The gun laws are materially different from State to State.

 

Notwithstanding, the complication about the N400 form is Part 12 question 19:

 

Q19: Did you EVER receive any type of military, paramilitary, (a group of people who act like a military group but are not part of the official military), or weapons training?

 

So basically if you get a gun (legally) then supposedly you already got training in how to use the weapon so the answer of this question might become YES

it's a non issue for the N400. I had/have one and a concealed carry permit. The only thing I didn't think about was that target practice was considered weapons training. Again no big thing, the IO just amended the N400 to reflect "yes" on weapons training and moved right on.
