Hello,

my wife applied for my son (Stepmother) for take him in the USA.

Today 06/02/2020 we received an email saying that the NVC received the approved immigrant visa from the USCIS and I already paid the fees.

How long usually takes from the DS-260 to the Medical/Interview appointment in Naples, Italy?

Can somebody else take my son to the Medical/Interview appointment or just my wife (petitioner) as we live in the US and my son is in Italy?

A guardian can.

As for interview,  the consulate needs to restart visa services first and then you likely have about 3 months of queue in front of you already waiting.  Medical is typically applicant scheduled once the interview is known

YMMV

Hi,

I noticed that you said that the NVC stated they received the approved petition today.

The next step is not the embassy interview.  You need to wait until the fees are shown as paid on the CEAC site, then complete the Immigrant Visa application (DS-260) and affidavit of support, then upload all supporting documents, then wait for documentarily complete approval (DQ).  Then documents are forwarded to the US embassy and you schedule the interview.

Normally it takes 1-3 months to get to the DQ stage, but recently some have had luck with very fast approvals - within a day or two.  But officially, NVC is working on documents submitted on 14-Feb-2020.

Hi,

thank you for your response.

I’m  trying to get my son here in the US for the upcoming school year..

There’s no guarantee that he will be able to interview and get into the country before the start of school year.

My wife's best friend took her son to the medical and interview.  She accompanied him into the medical and also into the consulate and stood with him for the "interview" without any issues.

Her son carried all required documents and invitation letter from the consulate.  Her friend carried her government issued ID.

My son is going to his embassy interview with his biological father. My husband is the US citizen petitioner.

Did the child only bring his/her civil documents?

AND

Did the child have to bring any documents for the petitioner?

Please, I await your response.

What to bring to the interview is very clearly stated in the department of state pages. Please ensure you have read everything in their very thorough guide to the process.

My wife's son brought his birth certificate, passport, and interview invitation letter.  We also sent him with photos of all of us together, but those weren't needed.  We also sent him with money to pay the expedited shipping after the interview.

My wife's friend who accompanied him brought her passport and id card.

This "interview" is really nothing more than an opportunity to see the k2 applicant and collect their passport.  I don't believe he spoke other than to say yes or no to a couple questions. - Jason

For a k1, definitely refer to this lust.  For a k2 follow to join interview in Vietnam and perhaps other countries, most of this is unnecessary.  The k1 documents are already on file and the k1 and k2 applicants are approved (or ready to be approved in the follow to join's case) by the time of the follow to join interview.

The follow to join k2 is providing the passport and perhaps alleviating any concerns about trafficking. The embassy already has all the financial and other documents submitted for the k1 as part of the k2's file.

If I remember correctly, the letter instructs what the k2 should bring, though. - Jason

Does the interview invitation letter comes by email or mail?
