Just wanted to chime in that timing of the N-400 is important to me. My oldest child will turn 18 in October. If I can somehow finish my naturalization process before her birthday, she gets derivative citizenship. If I can't, she'll have to wait a few more years then re-apply as an LPR with the 5-year rule. So, it's a time and cost issue for us, plus the weirdness of having everyone in her immediate family be a citizen except her. Now, is it somehow life-threatening or crucial? Obviously not. But in our case, it's clearly not a matter of simply "waiting a few more months".

Unfortunately, the USCIS doesn't look at it that way.

I totally get that, that’s what happened to us simply because SF took so much longer than many other FOs. It was annoying to see others applying the same month as me at other FOs get through the process much earlier while I sat and watched my daughter’s 18th birthday come and go. My younger daughter and I became USCs in November last year, my 18yo is still waiting for her n400 interview... Unfortunately as I found out, sometimes that's just how the dice roll.

Unfortunately we have to be patient and we have to wait. We don't have any leverage on this situation. You just need to convince yourself that there is nothing you can do at this point and need to let the stress go. It will get better sooner or later.
