On Wednesday night, President Trump finally took the coronavirus COVID-19 seriously. He banned all travel to EU countries for 30 days.

The disease may seem benign to some. Around 95% or more of the people who get it will survive and symptoms are generally mild and far from scary. But what is scary is how fast it spreads. And there are too many unknowns about the disease to find comfort in the fact that less than 1,000 people have it.

Heard a rumor that people in the town were in a panic and starting to clean all the stores out. Husband decided to do the weekly shopping last night and it was horrific. Water, canned goods, soap, and meat all gone. It was packed even at 9pm, but a worker said he should have seen it around 5pm... the lines were going out the door. Were still planning to check the club store tomorrow, but I hear that's all gone too. Unfortunately my dog needs meat to eat (he eats homecooked), so I hope they haven't cleaned out the chicken of every store within the next state. No idea how long this nonsense will continue... the workers at the stores looked shellshocked.

Less contgians in summer because people are outside more and generally have less sneezing dripping etc. I said it may slow the spread not stop it for use

Well, the Aussies have 4 active cases.  The Dominican Republic has 5.  In fact, I don't see ANY tropical climes having the "bloom" that countries in the Northern hemisphere are experiencing.

Virus "whatever the plural is" definitely spread faster in winter climates. You can google "why the flu is worse in winter"

 

I also just talked to the chemist that developed the chemical at the place I use to work . he said it is a jacketed Virus which makes it very easy to kill, and most cleaners/disinfectants are  effective although they cannot claim that until until the EPA approves it. So far its a short list they have approved ( pending efficacy Testing) Here is the list. They product I asked him about is Odoban. He cant legally say it kills the virus but it is very effective

"Envelope virus" is the term you are looking for.  And yes, enveloped viruses are easily killed my soaps, alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, etc.

It is interesting that the Italian outbreak occurred mostly in the North where the climate is a bit cooler and drier.

   As I posted earlier, the evidence we have from past pandemics is to the contrary. Chances are it will linger through the summer and come back next fall. No one knows for sure though.
