I'm an April filer but you guys seem to be the most active, so I will ask here😄 Is anyone worried that the furloughs of USCIS will affect our NOA2 date? If they start in August. Or should they have started looking at these packages already? How long does it usually take for them to look at it to sending out the NOA2?

Yea I am worried but I kinda pushed it to the back of my mind lol  I’m holding on to the idea that they will receive the funds they need at the last minute. Nothing is really usual right now with processing but they pretty much look at packages in the order they are received. I haven’t heard of a March filer get NOA2 yet this month.

I saw recently that someone (was it from Australia?) had their case expedited? Does anyone know who that was? I have a couple of questions, if that's possible... (apologies for adding to this thread - I didn't want to start a whole new post)

There were a few of people in this thread

Cases are not processed in the order in which they are received. Neither will they be adjudicated in any order. Just saying.

Q1 Every applicant here is worried that USCIS's funding and their ability to function whatever the condition they will find themselves in will affect their timelines for approval.

Q2 USCIS is looking at February now and soon to be onto March but there are people waiting from December forward. No one with any certainty can say when you will be adjudicated.

Q3 We have seen three months to three years. Depends on the background checks.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

Just a curiosity question- Does USCIS in the period between NOA1 and NOA2 preform a background check on both the petitioner and the beneficiary or just the petitioner?

Country: Morocco

NOA1- March 27th

Yes.

USCIS performs background checks* on both individuals as part of the Form I-129F adjudication.

*Background checks include checks of criminal, national security, and other information.

Oh wow... that was a pretty quick NOA2...

Look at their timeline. They mailed 2/15. There’s also a comment that the first NOA1 they received had a misspelled name so they had to fix something on that. For all intents and purposes, they were a Feb filer.

Yeah, when directing some people in the April filer thread to that VJ timeline sort function, I tried mentioning that anomaly so people wouldn’t get overly excited, but I guess that part of my post was easy to overlook.
