Try walk-in

You can do walk-in anywhere? It's a 3h return trip though so don't want to go for nothing....

There are no guarantees on walk-ins, it's all up to the discretion of the person that works there. But a lot of people, myself included had success. I risked it with 1.5h x2 there and back, so it's a personal consideration to make.

I hope everyone is staying safe! Please stay clean, practice social distancing, and reach out if you need help.

I have a question/situation that I was hoping to get confirmation on. We received an update that the I-485 case is "ready to be scheduled for an interview" (yay!) but the case statuses of the I-131 and I-765 has not been undated since "fingerprints were taken" and the I-130 case has been stuck at "case received" (it hasn't been updated at all).

Is this normal?

Given the current status of everything, I don't think the field offices will be opening anytime soon, so I don't expect our interview is be scheduled in the near future. But I just wanted to check if anyone is having similar experiences.

Thank you!

We have received a request for evidence, they are asking the most recent tax return for me as I included my salary in the affidavit of support. I did not see that written anywhere in the instructions. As we moved to the US last year, I do not have a tax return, I am going to file my first this year for 2019 but later as I am waiting for my French tax return first. I am explaining this in a letter, hopefully that will be enough.

Question, when they receive the response to the RFE, is that acknowledge in your case status? In other words, how do you know they have received your response? Should I use mail with tracking? Thanks.

I would be really careful with that. Tax returns are a requirement and they could deny your case for not sending them. I would rather send the tax returns ASAP and send USCIS exactly what they are asking for.

And to answer your question, yes, some times they do update your case status to acknowledge that they received your RFE

Julien, file your 2019 taxes ASAP using an online tool (such as TurboTax or HRblock) and submit the returns to USCIS. Don't wait for the French impôts. Do not ignore the RFE.

I am doing my tax return through an accountant and they are filing for an extension. We are going to file jointly as resident for tax purposes so I need the french tax return first. Without going into details, we have a complex tax situation (hence the accountant) and I am not going to use a software. My wife is the main sponsor on the affidavit and they did not ask for a tax return from her. This doesn't make any sense. How can they expect people to have their tax return for the previous year when it's perfectly legal to file for an extension and file later?

Even without my salary included in the affidavit, we are way above the poverty level, so it does not matter if they don't consider it.
