Hi all. Our case was transferred to PSC from CSC in December.

PSC 35-46 months for permanent residents seems very scary... But California had it faster. What times should I trust?

thank you

Well it looks like you got your answer today! Haha. Congratulations you guys! ;)

So... per the usual... Potomac seems to have ceased approving again... heaven only knows why as I haven't heard of anyone being transferred since December/January. But, they ARE approving people who applied for expedite or filed I-129f.

Our own most recent version of this was a couple with a PD of July 25th and an NOA1 of August 2 who filed their I-129f in October 2019. Today, I saw on FB another couple with a PD of August 19 was approved and they also filed for a K3.

Yeah it's certainly weird, and increasingly frustrating. They seem to have completely changed their way of working over the last couple of months. If they just went full steam ahead with I-130s, they'd have cleared July and August by now :(

Its probably because of all the transferred cases from the slower centers. They're probably working on those cases first since they've been waiting a long time.

Have people in this forum typically filed for I129fs subsequent to filing their I130? Is there definitive proof that this actually speeds up the I130 approval?

We spoke to our lawyer recently about this and  he told us that there is no proof whatsoever that this speeds things up and could actually slow down the process. Apparently there is a possibility that the I129 gets sent to a processing Centre like Nebraska for example, after which our I130 file also gets sent to Nebraska where the two are assessed in tandem. He advised that this simply would not make sense since we got Potomac (one of the fastest centers) as our processing centre but may make sense for people who got Nebraska or California.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Still on the fence about filing a I129f since Potomac seems to be moving at a glacial pace these days 🙄

Well, it could have been beneficial if you had filed it right away. But since we are already on July I-130 filers and they just approved the I130s of I-129f October filers, I don't really see it helping you out now. Your I-130 approval would come up long before the I-129f shows up on their radar.

I'm beginning to wonder if they are trying to level out / catch up all the service centres since they shifted all that work around so that they start working on IOE receipts from the same time period, especially since everything has transitioned online too. Potomac crawling through July, Texas still working on July (though they've had some August approvals) and now Nebraska has amazingly had some approvals from July too.

Well, here is the update for February 2020!

For the entirety of this month, 83 VJ member petitions have been approved by the USCIS across all the centers (by timeline).

Approximately 4 cases a day by the organization as a whole.

Of those 83 petitions approved, only six of them were at Potomac - roughly one petition for every three or four days.

The first petition of the month was approved on the 4th of February.

The latest NOA1 approved this month was August 2nd (due to filing of the I-129f). The latest NOA1 approved without expedite of I-129f was July 15th.

The current estimated range for application completion on the USCIS website is between 8.5 - 11 months from your PD. If you filed before April 16th, and you still have not received any notifications about your case, you should call USCIS and find out what is going on.

We are a small center (only 1,771 petitions recorded) and while the daily rate of approvals does leave something to be desired, we are moving forward, be it ever so slowly. Also, keep in mind, some filers do not have their timelines set up and so their data is not contributed to the pool. Please encourage any and all Potomac filers in the forums to go ahead and set them up so we can start to get more accurate readings on our timelines. That said, we are now tied with California Center for I-130 approvals, but we are still ahead of Nebraska (for now). We're getting there!
