No not necessarily. USC can have a slew of background problems that need to be sorted out. Let's say a USC was in the military and he worked under theTop-Secret status for his MOS. He traveled to numerus countries and so they all need to be sorted out. That will take time. There is a group of USCIS agents in Vermont that do this type of background checks. Those takes upwards of a year or more. There is one fellow now who is almost a year in waiting for his background checks and he was X-military. There are others but I won't name them here.

Ok. Thanks again. Iโ€™m not too complex although I immigrated here when I was 7 years old and became naturalized after 6 yearsย

I think typically it's been two to three weeks. I am tracking some and one was approved a week after it was received.ย

@Greenbaum, I know you cannot go into details about the x-military person's background. But,ย I am curious did this person had a dishonorable discharge or something from the military? A RFE? Feel free to pm, I tried to send you one but unavailable.ย

Let's drill down into your question. For argument sake let's say you and Mr. Bob apply for aย I-129f, Petition for Alien Fiancรฉ(e) but he is first in and your application is about a week after his. You are from a friendly country to the US and MB is from a more of a third world nation where bookkeeping isn't their strong suit. So USCIS does background checks and since your country comes back quickly with the information needed your file is about to move on to the next step but WAIT..... MB is still waiting for his background checks to be completed. So, since you wanted this to be fair and work first in first out then your file will sit till MB's is completed. But MB's BG check takes 2-3 months to be resolved but now it's ready to be shipped out to NVC with an approval. And yours is not ready for release because under your system he was first in so you had to wait but now your file is "free" to move to NVC also because MB's file is complete.

ย

Now I hope you have a better understanding why first in first out doesn't work. When they are complete, they get shipped out. People applying are from different ethnic backgrounds, cultures, countries', and diverse backgrounds so each is processing differently. Think of the backlog that your first in first out system would cause.

ย

These are older documents/testaments to how background checks are conducted. The information in general is true today as it was when it was written. I hope you gain some knowledge as to why it takes as long as it does.

I think there are some other options which are more important than the background check, too. For instance, some Iranian cases in Feb got their approvals 2-3 weeks ago. Both the applicants are from Iran (you know the relationship between Iran and US :)) )ย

My fiance is an American and I live in Turkey (there will be better responses from Turkey government for my background than Iranian one)ย

ย

But still I'm waiting ,they got their approvals :)ย :)))ย

In addition to @Greenbaumย response...every case is peculiar for example

1. Do they need to verify the evidence you submitted or not

2.Have your foreign fiance visited the USA before (they will check his travel history)

3. Have you or your foreign fiance been married before (they will look into your US marriage and they have a standard verification method for foreign marriages and divorces)

4. If US citizen used to be a migrant too, they look into his or her migration history and how they acquireย citizenship.

So there is alot of sides to it @Naz2020ย

ย

They were discharged with an HONORABLE discharge. The person worked in very highly classified section of the military and traveled to many countries. Eventually a vast number of theseย types get approved, but the background checking is a bear to get through. No RFE just a notice that their case was transferring from CSC to VSC.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

ย  ย  โ€ข "the man with the gold makes the rules"
ย  ย  โ€ข it will take as long as it will takeย
ย  ย  โ€ข no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
ย  ย  โ€ข Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
ย  ย  โ€ข Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
ย  ย  โ€ข They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
ย  ย  โ€ข Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journeyย

Does anyone use the informed delivery from the post office? I've been using it for over a year but I was wondering if anyone knew what the return address says coming from USCIS. I have a package of some sort being delivered today coming from 'UPS MAIL INNOVATIONS/ADMIN ACCOUNT'.ย ย I have no clue what it could be. What should I be looking for in my emails?ย  Today is day 198 since we have applied.ย
