Had my Biometrics appointment today (Orlando). We were almost an hr early but it was first come first serve so it didn’t matter.

When you get there they hand you a short form to fill out. Then you wait in line to hand it to reception. They check your form your letter and your ID and then you wait for your number to be called. They take your picture and finger prints and then that is that.

it took about 20 min from entering the office to leaving.

Now just time to wait for an Interview ;))

Completed my biometrics today in Birmingham, AL. Quick and easy, but no myUSCIS update yet (which I'm not too worried about). HUGE REMINDER: If you've filed in your married name and your passport is in your maiden name, you will save yourself a lot of trouble if you bring your marriage license! I didn't bring mine so I didn't really have proof of the name change. Luckily the woman saw that my husband petitioner shared my married name and I was let through. I think I got lucky because she was really nice and helpful, but as we all now that is not always the case with USCIS. So if you have filed in your married name, BRING YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE!!

Very good. Did you apply for a SSN before marriage, if not you can still apply but keep your mouth shut about being married  and apply in the maiden  name. Do it while you have time  left on your I94

Hi,

What is the advantage of applying for SSN using the maiden name? I havent applied yet and im married. We thought its better  so we do not need to change it after marriage.

You should have applied as soon as you got to the US and before getting married.

The advantage is getting started with banking, insurance, housing leases etc.   Otherwise you have to wait until you get your EAD.

Many will not open without a SSN.   Once the 75 day period after entry has expired, you have to wait to get a SSN until getting EAD or GC

Ask his company because once you are married you have a limited time to get enrolled.

You also need a SSN to get a state id or drivers license.

Hi,

I applied for SSN after our marriage, and submitted later the AOS i already used my husband last name, it will just take a bit time maybe 5-6 weeks but its much better so that you don't need to change your SSN again. just bring your marriage certificate even if its not the original.
