So were waiting on the green card but we have had some unfortunate events . I'm out on injury and cant return to work till Nov 2020  our fiances are tight, and were expecting  a baby, I am a citizen  filing for my husband through  the k1visa. I wanted to know if I apply for public assistance  temporarily would they hold that against  us.

I’m gonna assume you meant “finances” because if you have multiple “fiances”, you gotta much bigger problem.

As a US citizen, you can avail whatever public assistance you’re qualified for. It is there for you. No, it won’t affect your husband’s immigration case. I assume he came on K1 and you married and now filing for AOS?

The only question is how do you handle the I-864 affidavit of support if money is tight with a baby on the way and all of a sudden your household size tripled.

Lol yes finances. At the time we had both incomes coming in when I did the  Affidavit of support. My only concern  is they have changed so many rules and  we still haven't  done the interview yet. I just dont want to hurt our chances.  They told us they are backed up and it wont be processed  till February  the latest.

I'm assuming you have a joint sponsor?

Then I would reiterate @USS_Voyager's question.....how will that work?

You're doing a K1 so your fiance won't be able to work for months.

You won't be working, just on assistance. You'll have a child. You have no joint sponsor.

This isn't going to work.

In the first post it's stated that they're filing for a greencard after "husband" arrived in the US on a K-1, so this would be AOS. Not sure if they already filed though?
