What needs to happen by this approval date? This is my I797.

Interview should be set by that date. But it can be extended by the embassy if needed.

Do you mean that the interview needs to take place by this date? Or that the interview can be after this date but must be scheduled.

You should try to track your case it should be in your embassy already

It is, but we aren't ready to schedule the interview yet. That's why I need to understand what this date signifies.

You have to complete your interview before the expiration date. If appointment times are not available you need to try and extend you approval time.  If you don't complete either option in time then you will have to start the process over.

I answered your question yesterday. Contact the Brazil consulate via email requesting  an extension.

Here is the format we used 

 

Dear US Embassy,

This is so and so, for case #RDJxxxxxxxxx

We would like to extend the i797 for x reason. 
I am sending this email to ask if it is possible to extend the validity of the i797 (129f approval of K-1 visa petition). It is about to expire on x day. Please inform us of how to proceed.
