Did you get your card yet.

No. I was supposed to travel this month and desperately tried to get an info pass appointment to get my passport stamped at least. They would not let me, they said I have to wait for my card to arrive.

It was not produced nor mailed yet.

Hi everyone,

I filed for ROC last year in August and I recently received a request for additional evidence. The documents that I submitted were:

  • Lease agreements from July 2017-2020
  • Joint tax returns 2017-2018
  • Auto sales contract 2016 and auto insurance for the last three years with both of our names on it.
  • My wife life insurance with me as the main beneficiary
  • Travel itineraries
  • Three affidavit of support
  • Photos

I'm responding to the RFE with these new documents:

  •   New Lease showing joint occupancy of residence (2020-2021)
  •   Copy of emergency contact
  •   Joint federal and state tax returns and IRS transcripts (for the year 2019)
  •  Copy of driver license showing the same address of residence
  •   Joint auto insurance for the last year
  •  Copy of notarized Financial Power of Attorney
  •  Copy of notarized Medical Power of Attorney
  •  New Photos for the new year vacation 2020

We're also going to open a joint saving account this week and send it as another evidence. My wife and I don't have any shared credit card or checking account. I have a credit card in which my wife is an authorized user. We usually put our grocery store on that account and we split the bill in half then she transfers me money for rent and credit card bill. Do you think I should also provide a copy of the last statements in addition to explaining how we manage our shared finances?

Just curious, which Service Center currently has your case?

We provided a ton of evidence to make up for the fact that we don't have a joint lease/mortgage (I owned this home prior to marriage), credit card, or use the same bank account. We do have lots of other stuff showing joint responsibility (utilities, auto insurance, life insurance, driver licenses with same address, joint tax returns/transcripts, photos, airline boarding passes, etc.), so the supplemental items you listed are good. We both like maintaining our finances separately and reimbursing each other for joint expenses. We provided a pretty lengthy explanation of how we manage our financial affairs, along with our monthly household accounting ledgers. We're a little nervous if that was overkill and might be a red flag, but figured the evidence provided needed some sort of explanation. We've had no RFE and no action on our case since May. Our case is at California Service Center.

Our case is at Nebraska Service Center. We also prefer to maintain our finances separately. I didn't give any explanation in my application, but am writing a lengthy letter explaining how we manage our shared household expenses.

Cool. Yeah at first we were nervous that maybe we didn't co-mingle enough, but then we thought, hey, every couple is different, and there's no right or wrong way to "manage" a relationship...just what's right for us! We live together, travel together, and share essential expenses and responsibilities. We did provide five affidavits from friends and family, knowing they're weighted far less than other evidence but can still be helpful in showing a bona fide marriage, so that might be another thing to consider.
