Social Security

This probably will be moved but I am not really sure exactly where it belongs.  When we filled out the DS-260 we said yes to the social security card.  I am not sure if I should go to the SSA or will they already be working on the cards.  Rose found a place that she really wants to work at and they have openings for her but we don't have the card yet.  I'm just trying to figure out the next step.

Go to the SSA.  Our cousins came over with DV GCs and they also checked the box on the DS260, a week or so after they arrived, we went to the SSA and nothing was being worked on, so they applied for the SSN right there.

 

Does she have the physical GC?

As already suggested ,make a trip to the SSA office ASAP. She should be able to start work without the SSN...she has her stamped visa as evidence of her LPR status ... she just can’t get paid until she can give the number to the employer. Worth pursuing the job.. put “applied for “ in the SSN box until it comes. It should only take a couple of weeks

My wife's SS card arrived 11 days after POE........GC came about 10 days later

They just arrived a week ago.  No physical GC yet.  I was just wondering if pushing that button in the DS-260 actually works!  LOL

SSA will send the card.   No need to make a trip to SSA.

 

I have been hearing the GC processing has slowed down a little ...     hopefully it is just an ugly rumor

Both Aira's and AJ's social security cards are arriving today.  Rose's isn't in today's mail.  The DS-260 does work!
