As I mentioned in the post just above this

You said exactly what I wanted to say. If people read the thread, they would know the history of your case and wouldn't have to ask any questions because it has been hashed over and over. After a while it's like someone asking how your Uncle is who died some time ago. Good luck and stay engaged.

We were waiting for the visa after the interview, and the consulate stopped working.

That has been 4 months and my fiance's passport is still at the consulate.

I don't know how much my patience can go on. 😥

Honestly, I did feel like we were close, but not anymore. I understand you've been frustrated as well.

Now I'm thinking I'll just tell him to come down and we'll get married and do adjustment of status even though we have put so much effort and money into K1.

This pandemic and budget cuts and etc etc...I'm just so tired of waiting around without any word from the consulate.

You will need to file a I-130, Petition for Alien Relative if you marry. That means to the back of the line and more money and another year wait. Mmmmm. What will you do?

You can't just waltz right into the US (which Canadians can do) and marry someone and file an AOS. If you could everyone would do it. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am going to try to get my case to be emergency through consulate (I don't know if they are still processing those but worth a try) and get it approved but if that doesn't work, I'm going to tell my fiance to get the passport from consulate and come "visit" me.

We'll wait for the consulate's news meanwhile but before the expiration date comes (6 months from medical I think) we'll have to make a decision.

That's what I've thought about so far. Let me know if there are better ways to go about it.

The best way, since you are so far into this process and have paid money for this privilege, is that you're better off to wait then to start over. He doesn't need a passport to cross the US border from Canada. . A DL is fine for ID. I believe that it will take longer to get the passport returned then to wait for further processing. Embassies are about to reopen and CR-1 and those who had been approved prior to the shutdown will be the first to be processed. You are at the front of the line.

Thanks for wise advice.

The thing is he doesn't have driver's license 😥 are you sure you don't need passport to fly to US? He does have nexus card tho, should that work?

I've always thought embassies will reopen soon since April...but now I'm starting to think they're trying to delay visa processing and embassy reopening for immigrants as log as they can.

But I am preparing documents to write embassy to be considered emergency case and in the meantime I can only wait and hope for any news.

I will make sure and share with you guys of any updates I hear. Thank you always.

Where did you get that idea from? Everything that is official is "demonstrating" (emphasis added) counter to what you are saying. There are phases for the opening, and some embassies are in phase one and others are just beginning phase two. Phase three when reached will have them open.

According to a State Department spokesperson, 97 overseas posts are in Phase I and 35 are in Phase II of reopening. Under Phase I of the department's reopening plan, "Diplomacy Strong," up to 40% of "non-vulnerable employees" may be brought back, and under Phase II, 40% to 80%, according to an overview of the plan.
