I realize you just want this process to end, and you might have no patience. I have been there, so I know how it feels - have faith, it will eventually happen.

I applied for my Green Card (marriage based, in Manhattan) a few months before 9/11 - then not only was the Federal Plaza building closed for several weeks, for obvious reasons, the whole process slowed down to a crawl. Took me 3 years until I got the GC, and that was before they had online accounts, status emails, etc. - just wait and wait, and hope your application is still active somewhere.

When I applied for the N400, I managed to do it just before the current serious slowdown - applied in Nov 2017, and had my oath in Sept 2018.

 Stay hopeful!

Thank you for the encouragement - it helps to know others have been through this and come out the other end!

I am glad your situation eventually worked out well.

I was fine living with a GC all these years, until the current administration arrived. I realized it is better to be a citizen, and was warned that the wait is already getting longer.... just remember that half of the people get it done in what they quote as the low end of the wait time range .

Yes, I try to remind myself that 50% of cases are decided by the lower end of the range (which has blown out from 8.5 months in August 2018 to 13.5 months May 2019).

You made the right move to get in before the massive backlog really took effect...

I received my receipt letter yesterday (with priority date April 29th!) and was able to set up an online account because I got a IOE receipt number. Quick question--can people see copy of their submitted application online, especially if you've submitted it on paper? In my documents tab, there is a section called "Your Uploads" and I only see a scan of all the evidence that was sent in, not my actual N-400. I'm sure they have it, since they wouldn't have given me the receipt number without my actual application, but was curious.

Yes, I can see my N400 application that I completed online. It might be different given that you mailed in your copy. You could start a thread with that specific question as anyone who mailed in their application would likely be able to answer you. By the way, what is the wait time and estimated case completion indicated on your USCIS profile?

@N400NYC Thank you for creating this thread. I had to cancel a summer vacation I was very looking forward to because of this. I'm a Bronx filer, was supposed to be done in June 2019 and it was extended to October, I can only hope this will be over soon.

You've been waiting 9 months so I surely hope the interview notice comes out soon! For you and me both! If people who filed 9 months ago are still waiting I shudder to think how long I might be waiting having filed in April given that things are getting even worse.

So my priority date on NOA was 4/29/2019. I received my actual NOA on 5/28 and did my biometrics on wednesday (5/29). It now says my case completion date is in 12 months, so May 2020. That's what I expected the wait to be so I'm not really surprised.

@nyj215 - I think this discussion will interest you! It seams that interviews in the "NYC" field office are issued based on county and the people who have been getting earlier interviews are from counties to the north of the Bronx which are also serviced by the "NYC" field office. So even within the "NYC" field office jurisdiction we are living in the wrong place (Manhattan) it seems! :(

Thanks!  I had known this Rockland trend already, and actually when the Jan 2019 filer posted I had meant to ask that question but then forgot.   The fact the interview came quickly because of being Rockland is in line with 2018.  And makes way more sense than the LIFO scare which I was never a believer in.

Now, the fact that living across a county line can make a 8+ month difference in processing time is another thing completely.  Crazy.

Thank you! Is there no way you can stop it? It must be annoying after completing the whole process for you!

You can change it by going to "Settings" then edit the "Case inactivity notifications".
