Refiled I-90 - RFIE/RFE?

What's interesting to me is that it is possible for fingerprints to be worn out/change over time....I know there are some accommodations made especially for the elderly when their hands are wrinkled to the point of distorting their actual fingerprints.

When I did my biometrics for AOS, the agent told me to "press down hard"...and then it still wouldn't read and he pushed his hand down ontop of mine to get the fingerprint to show.  Afterwards he asked me what I used to do for a living and I told him "I used to play in water all day" (swimming instructor).  He said that explained it because over the years my fingerprints were wearing down (his term, not mine).

@Mike E curious if you tried to request a fee waiver for the i-90 since it was more of a "have to do it/outdated card" sort of thing?  I know it wasn't a DHS error...but to me, it's somewhat a compelling reason for one.

BTW, I am amused that your lawyer didn't send in your green card, and you didn't get an RFE. I guess lawyers are worth it some times. 😉

Unless it gets caught at the adjudication stage right before card production stage and then the RFE gets sent out for it then 😕

Normally USCIS won't issue a new card without the old one in hand first...so I'm surprised as well it wasn't spotted right away that the original GC was missing.

...Is this a serious question?

The biometrics agent isn't there to judge how your emotions come across your face during photo-taking...the agent is there to make sure that the photo and fingerprints is acceptable by USCIS requirements.

I guess my advice would be to think happy thoughts when facing the camera, then?

Yew because I have to live with this picture for about 5 years before I apply to become a USC. I want to look handsome LOL.

I once had a green card with no expiration date. After ten years, INS and then CBP get threatening me that there was a new law "coming any day" that would outlaw such green cards, and " I better do something about it." After each threat, I checked with the DHS web site and found that the CBP officers were lying (cops lie, who knew!).

After the straw that broken the camels back, I did the I-90 thing. And I when they took my photo at the USCIS office, I was angry, and the yes indeed the biometrics agent noticed, and asked me if I wanted a new photo. "Nope, I like it as it is." She looked at my old green card, and said, "wow, CBP must have really given you a hard time".

(The point of a fingerprint on a green card is lost on me if the thing expires every 10 years.)

Never had a problem with that new green card at POE again. Even worked for Global Entry.

So I say, embrace the anger.

The old Alien Registration Card had no expire date. I guess I am being too picky and spoiled now.

Lawyer says half the time they do not ask for original Green Card. There is also a risk of losing the mail and then we would end up with paying a fee to replace it. My I-90 did not cost money. Guess, what? The initial mail was indeed lost and thank God my lawyer didn’t send the original GC. I have it now in my possession. RFIE/RFE would delay the process but I am in no hurry to get a replacement either.

😂 It simply never occurred to me that DHS would waive this fee.

They had my year of birth wrong on I-485 but correct on I-765. I was RFIE for BC with ET but they still did not correct it after sending in the evidence. My lawyer at the interview told the IO to correct it but still did not happen.

The letter says to bring my PR Card. Does this mean they will keep the original card? Also, my lawyer helped me prepare it this I-90 is not a lawyer-client relationship. Do I tell ASC that?

They might keep the card for it to be sent back and destroyed---you'll get a newly corrected one later on, anyhow.

The ASC agent doesn't care who prepared the i-90 (or who didn't)--he/she is not involved in the adjudication of it.

My I-90 Receipt appears to have my correct birth year on it. Does this mean they already corrected it?

ASC - Appointment Notice:

It says to bring my PR card so does that mean I do not need to show them any other ID like my state Driver License?

It says: If you were assisted in completing your application, petition, or request, you will be reaffirming that the person assisting you also reviewed the Acknowledgement of Appointment at USCIS Application Support Center with you.

How do I answer that question since my lawyer assisted but this time there was no G-28.

Also, are Jeans allowed at the ASC?
