Hi Wuozopo, yeah I’m aware of WEP and that if you declare a foreign pension it can reduce your US SS. However, a weekly contribution of £2.80 for a weekly pension of £165 is too good a deal to miss!

I already qualified for full pension before I left U.K. How many years do you have left to pay in?

Not true! If you renounce your British citizenship, perhaps. One time of day I was lead to believe that the USA does not recognize dual nationalities, but it is more common these days than of the past. Many I know will travel out on one passport and return with the other.

I have had to research to help other people in these forums. It is not a waste of my time because I am becoming more knowledgeable about situations. If you post again and advise people please do your research. As @aaron2020 said most information you can find on google.

So you guys involved yourself with this topic where pretty much obvious it's an old one, please research as well before committing as an old topic should not be opened again, and repeated comments and advised are pretty much not helpful.

That's all US really cares about at that point---that one exits and enters as a US citizen.  Besides, the US passport will list your country of birth anyway on the passport so it's not like you can hide the fact.

 

I had a CBP officer ask me once out of curiosity if I liked America more than Canada when he noticed I was a dual citizen...and I was afraid to answer that question until he whispered he wants to move to Canada one day lol

You can have both. My daughter had the British one first and then US. My son the other way round.

 

It's not an issue at all
