Just about had a heart attack today. Saw in the daily USPS informed digest email that a letter from USCIS was coming today. Checked the mail 5 mins ago and saw a letter on red paper (not a color I associate with good news). Open it up and it basically says we didn't send the medical evaluation form when we filed the 485 back in April. With AOS filings in Charlotte now taking upwards of 2 years, we decided to not do that until we got the interview scheduled so the form didn't expire (based on the old 1 year rule, now extended to 2). The letter caught me off guard though. Has anyone else gotten something similar?

We received a similar notice as we opted to send the packet without the 693 so we could hold off on the medical until we received word  that the interview was scheduled. Ours was on yellow paper, maybe they like to change the colors to give them some variety in their day/week.

Had the medical done a few days before the interview (I recommend giving it a bit more time between, we were down to the wire). Interview officer asked if we brought anything additional with us/didn't specifically prompt us for the medical though. We handed the 693 sealed envelope over at the interview and it was completely fine.

Married 4/12/18
Mailed AOS Packet (485, 131, 130, 130a, 864, 765) 4/9/19
Packet Delivered to Chicago Lockbox 4/12/19
NOA1 for i-130, 765, 131, 485: 4/19/19
Biometrics Notice: 4/26/19
Biometrics appointment 5/14/19
Notice For Interview 5/21/19
693 completed: 6/25/19 (appointment was 6/21/19, civil surgeon needed time to process)
Interview: 6/25/19
Approved: 6/25/19 (online case status lists new card is being produced)
GC in hand: 7/2/19

So didn't they send you RFE asking for medical? And did they just say you should bring it on the interview?

That's great!

Correct, it was not an RFE, it said "courtesy letter to applicant" and went on to say that initial review of our 485 packet determined that the application was deficient as it was missing the 693. Instructions on the sheet said to make sure to bring a signed and completed 693 to our interview/if your case does not require an interview we would recieve an RFE. Since our AOS required an interview (I think most do) we never got an RFE and just completed the medical once we had the interview scheduled notice in hand. It also said to NOT mail any documents at that time.

Edit: fixed typo

Hi All,

I just received the 797C Monday August 12th, NOA for interview.  I am now putting our paperwork in order for the interview which will be held in Durham, NC.

Does anyone have a checklist besides the vague checklist in the NOA that I can follow.  I want to ensure there are no issues getting my wife's AOS?

Sincerly,

Alfredo and Denisse

For my interview I brought literally a full copy of my AOS packet (it wasn't necessary but made me very comfortable having it!).

•your 693 (medical) if not already submitted

•any new info (updated bank statements, updated pay stubs and a letter from my employer in my case)

•everything listed on the NOA

•your IDs (I think we had to show ours to get through security)

•bring your NOA as well, you'll likely need to show it when you check in at your interview
