Now that my AOS has changed to “ready to schedule an interview” should I expect some written confirmation of that, or only once an interview has actually been scheduled?

You only get written letter when your interview is scheduled. Because the letter will state the date for your interview.

Please my status change on Friday from  "New card is being produced"  to "Case was approved".

What happens next and when can I expect to receive my card?

Stop pointlessly stressing out. Just wait for the card.

Lol.... I am not stressing up. My husband has to get his eye surgery done and I have to start working and I need to get my driving license.

I just got an update that USCIS are ready to schedule an interview - anybody know how long it might take (San Francisco Field Office)?

How long it take for your interview to be scheduled depend on your local field office.

Depends, i think yours is one of the longest ones. USCIS.gov -> check processing times-> I485 (Family Based) and it'll tell you.

I am also in the SF office. Our case got updated case is ready to be scheduled at the end of March. I think they are about a year out from what I gather for Interviews at SF. I would just enjoy the summer time as our time will come
