Need help regarding k1 visa whatsapp screenshots

i just realized I may have made a fatal mistake in filing the paperwork for the k1 visa... I included screenshots of me and my fiance calling each other "hubby" and "wifey". Not very often but during some of our whatsapp conversations. I  was reading that USCIS could flat out deny the petition because of it implying that we are already married.... when in fact we just use those as nicknames for endearment. Anyone else have insight into this issue?

It's probably not an issue, but could be. There's no way to know how they will interpret it until they adjudicated the petition. The CO at the embassy may or may not believe you may be married as well even if it gets through USCIS.

Yeah all of this is nerve wrecking. U try to put the best packet together as possible. And still tend to overlook small important things. Have any of u heard about the visa being denied due to this? I read a post from 2016 saying the person knew people who got denied....And now it's 2018 and things are much stricter.

It shouldn't prevent you from being together, might just be a bit longer. What's done is done.

Along with what was said above---How much it affects your visa approval can also depend on your additional evidence submitted---- for example, if you also included photos depicting anything resembling a marriage ceremony (or perceived by the CO as resembling a marriage ceremony even though they were truly "engagement photos"), that can make the potential of it being an issue worse.

Some have been denied for this in the past (taking the entire case into account, not just one-off statements in online conversations), some have gotten through with no problem.  Depends on the officer CO.

Yes, not an issue lol. My husband and I made the same “mistake” by calling each other that before we got married in text messages.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So they didnt give u an RFE or anything? Lol thats encouraging. I'm sure the USCIS knows couples give each other nick names 😂😂.  I have heard with the K1 visa, implying u are "wifey" and "hubby" is hit or miss with a visa approval.

And on ur timeline it says u were married before u sent the application? Lol im filing for a fiance visa. So I thought it would be a problem, us having those nicknames before our actual marriage.

My two cents, I sent in whatsapp chats where his name was saved as "Husband <3", I realized later for some reason there was a glitch and it would not let me change is name. So I put a disclaimer next to the screenshots stating that his name "Husabnd" was only for purposes of a nickname and that any references to "Husband" was in reference to the unmarried beneficiary. Our petition was approved with no RFE

Thats smart. But how do I tell USCIS that when I sent the petition in August? Should i send a letter or something. I dont want to complicate the process even more.
