Personally I could not care less how the border is secured as long as it is secured.  You mentioned airports and sailing in, but last time I checked, those PoEs were pretty secure.  We also though need to change the law making it impossible to claim asylum for successfully getting past all the border security illegally particularly if one has already passed through other countries perfectly capable of processing an asylum claim.

i can agree with this.

they need a post in Mexico specificaly to process asylum.. if they want asylum, they go there to grt processed and either denied or granted.

I mentioned airports as thats how many travel to the US on vistor visas... then they dont go back after their stay.  the water is impossible to secure due to the size of US coastlines.. if they own a boat capable of the sea, they can get through.. but again more drones amd equipment such as boats and helicopters would help prevent this.

Im all for securing the border. but not wasting money to do so.

$5b is alot to waste for a country with litteraly no money.  almost $30T in debt.  At least hiring personel adds income tax to people, and more spending money wich results in sales tax to collect as well.

Like I said before we spend over $200 billion with both state and federal spending on Illegals a year.

Actually the US as a whole spends over $200 Billion a year on Illegals in this country. So a wall at say $25 Billion would pay for itself in no time.

Please don't bring facts into the conversation...…..

And yet the leading source of immigrants here illegally are overstays of valid Visas. Most of those folks did not cross the southern border, and the wall does nothing.

illegals are still in the country with a wall.

also. the number is $116b. adding in the taxes they pay it drops to under$100b.. the children that are the main reason  for these costs become grow up and are citizens (many estimated to pay more taxes than average "american" citizens).. lowers the cost to about $17b/year with the fact they start paying taxes but dont recieve benefits.

Wall?

I see guys who are dumb as stump, get deported to Mexico and they can make it back to Dallas in 2 weeks.  I have known about 20 guys in the last 10 years who get deported and return back to Dallas within about 2 weeks.  I have seen some who were not smart and they even made it back, so it pretty easy to come illegally into the USA from Mexico.

I actually read the Pew and Cato studies earlier when I was responding to someone on FB that put out those numbers as well. They both play pretty fast and loose with the numbers and only refer to Illegal once in the study all while counting Legal Immigrants in their numbers as well. That is why there is such a disparity in the numbers. Also Pew and Cato said that they think there are 11 million illegals in the USA, but a later Yale poll has put that number closer to 25-30 million illegals in the country.

Well the optics make it that much worse for people coming across the southern border due to stunts like the caravans

side note:

Why not offer that 2/3rds of illegals that been here for 10+ years citizenship?  Just like that, they show proof they been here for 10 years, no criminal records, they get their SSNs, then they all start paying taxes which is the big issue with illegals.

Trump put that on the Table if we fixed the border. dems said no

doubling the number also doubles the benefit they do to the economy through more spending, lower pay, more sales tax that what was previously thought if.. ect..it still will amount to cutting the oval cost if them down if done as the previous estimates in the articlei shared are done

it cut those costs down from 167b to u der 100b maybe as low as 17b..  since we use numbers that fit our agenda, ill use 17b.  10% of the original "FAIR" cost.  so lets use same methods my article used on the doubled numbers and say 20b.  heck ill give 30b.

It also doubles the amount of money we have to pay to in order to support them. It's not like most of them pay any sort of meaningful taxes compared to what they take. Since the vast majority get paid under the table cash, live 10-15 to a house, and the vast majority of their money home to their country
