Nice, we would like it done so that we won't have to upgrade later is the plan so that is why I was thinking of the higher costs.

Here is a link to a site called Expat Forum which is as you can see a forum for expats around the world. But the link is for the Philippine subforum specifically the construction costs for building in the provinces.

Just understand that it is British, Austrailians, and Americans talking about the Philippines. Some good and some not so good.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

Hmmmm.  I checked the ryobi and porter cable charger and they are 110 only. But only pull 7w so a big transformer isn't needed.  Maybe I saw it at harbor fraud .  I will have to check again .

I found a 20v battery tool system with 110/240 dual power chargers.  Drill, circ saw and reciprocating saw will be in the luggage for the March trip.

YMMV

What brand?

I sent a Milwaukee M18 Weedeater and a Blower to Philippines recently so my nephew can use it around the house, He is going to have to get a power inverter if he doesn't have one yet.

I sent my wife family a Dewalt 20 volts tools last year, but her father has power inverters already.

The chargers can be "altered" to handle 240v.

How do you guys recommend finding property to buy in the Philippines? Most of the stuff online is just huge amounts of land. I'm thinking you need to know someone in the area to get property there. (I have my extended family in the area, but it's nice being able to do things online too)

Boots on the ground.   Or rather flip-flops on the ground.  ;)

You can have them check online stuff in person for you ..   Everyone tends to way over-price and if the find that a Kano is in the mix  .. the price gets higher.

That's what I figured. Heck my wife's family has property they want to sell and the price is way too high. Because each sibling wants a piece of money. I tried explaining that's not how pricing works, but it didn't sink in.

I found a family that had a fish business that was struggling and snatched a house at a great price.

If I had to do it again, I don't think I would buy any property in Philippines, If I was buying for myself I would just rent. You can find nice houses in gated communities to rent for cheap prices.  I was staying in a nice house in Davao City that was furnished with Air Con in a gated community and only paying $250 per month couple years ago.

You can buy the 240V chargers at any of the Home Depots in the Philippines ... no d!nking around.
