FYI - you personally actually have the ability to extend your NOA2  i believe 2 or 3 times for any "reasonable" reason.  I believe each extension is for 4 months and  you just have to ask for it.  Of course if your case is help up by NVC or the Embassy for admin processing or lack of interviews available they will extend automatically.

Just one minute ago I checked the status and it said it's ready for the interview. Two days ago it was in the NVC supposedly and now it's in Moscow.

If you want to be 100% certain, I would wait till you get the email from the embassy to let you know you are ready to schedule.

If your fiance lives in Moscow and you want to be aggressive you can try to schedule the interview now.  If the case isn't ready they will call her the day before and let her know its not ready for an interview yet.  Then you have to reschedule. YOu can do that 2X before you have to pay the visa fee again.

One step forward. Two steps back. LoL Because of his job the government will pay for the flight but not til January and then of course there is the holiday when the embassy will be closed. Still, it's the home stretch. Happy!!!

lol i know the feeling.  You are getting close and you are almost there.  Get financial sponsor completed, read reviews of the moscow embassy to see potential questions and you are good to go.  Good luck!

You are a k1 you have case# now go start on your DS-160 pay visa fee schedule your appointment.
Case# is all you need. doesn't matter about your case at NVC. You ware wasting time waiting. Get on this.

Do you know the procedure of your embassy. How to fill out DS-160, where to pay visa fee. Documents to gather.

@Debbiedoo 8 weeks for what they have their case#. They need not bother with NVC now.

I thought you had to wait until it says “In Transit” to schedule your interview.

We completed the ds-160 and paid the visa fee actually while it was still in the NVC. So he's calling today to make an appointment. Yay!

I hope my experience helps someone. So this is what I think happened which is why I think it's very important when you call the NVC to have your numbers checked and your email address verified with them. I was getting 'at NVC' status on the immigrant CEAC site. I called and as it turns out they had put my email address down incorrectly in their system. They had put the lowercase letter "l" in place of a "1" in my address. I double-checked my application and I had typed it correctly but I can see how it could very easily get confused when you stare at a computer screen all day. The officer insisted it didn't matter because the letter would not come by email but by post. However, the status changed the next day to 'in transit' and then two days after the call it was ready in the Russian consulate! In fact, I did get an email with the letter addressed to him that it had arrived in Moscow and I've not yet gotten a letter in the post. It's possible that it went from New Hampshire to Russia in two days but it's also possible that it was already in Russia and they had emailed the incorrect address. Whatever the reason, I'm just happy that it's ready to go!

They will automatically extend the petition.  Also,I know Moscow appointments have been tough to get because of the reduction in staff due to the current political situation.  Def check out the specific russian forums on VJ.  They have groups on there that have worked together through whatsapp to let each other know when appointments open up on the website.

Okay. Thank you. They keep telling him they will make the appointment and email him when it is but I will def check out the Russian forums because I need all the support possible. I was actually looking for it this morning.  I'm so glad the petition renews itself! I know it will happen. It's just a matter of time. Tentative wedding plans for February.
