Yes.  Take your passport for identification.  If they ask for your SSN, just explain that it is being sent to you..

Yes.  I wouldn't unless it's an emergency or without insurance.  Fyi your endorsed visa in your passport is a temporary green card valid for 1 year.

Thank you. Do I have to pay for per service? Also do you know if I can do insurance without SSN and how long it can take ?

Yes you have to pay.  Medical care in the USA is extremely expensive.  For instance without insurance through my husband,  a visit to an urgent care center (not an ER) would have cost me over $500.  With insurance it cost  me $150.

Yes, medical care is not free..and the billing is extremely complex.......but EMERGENCY medical care will not be denied.

As for how long, see if you can get in your spouse's insurance first.

You can get insurance at any time, instantly. Just you have to be able to pay for it. There is no public healthcare / insurance like you may have known it from other countries.

I spent about 4 hours in the ER a week or so ago for chest pain......I expect the "billed" charges to be in the neighborhood of $10,000.    Thank goodness for Medicare and a secondary insurance carrier...........medical costs are such a huge consideration during immigration!!

To behonest, health care costs are one of the reasons i consider becoming a USC.

I could move back to Canada, spend 3 months, get healthcare treatment, then move back without having to reapply for an IR1 visa
