Can someone confirm the following based off of what's listed here in the old pages of this forum:

Is it true that after you get a case # from the NVC, you can fill out your ds-160, pay all fees, AND you can book all of your appointments (e.g. medical, biometrics/ofc, in-person interview)? And you should atleast book both medical and biometrics atleast 1 week prior to whatever interview date you're able to catch? Is this correct?

Do people really have to wait for the CEAC to show 'READY' to do any of the background work? Are people just nervous that it won't get to the Embassy in time for the interview date they've selected or are they waiting for it to say ready to be able to actually schedule an interview?

good advise is too..

1. wait for your NVC assigned case come to Mumbai. it takes ard 10 business days to arrive at Mumbai and have a ready for interview.

2. then you can start the DS-160, pay the fees.

3. meanwhile wait for the packet, as some medical center's need the first page from the packet you receive from Mumbai, before they take up your appointment.

4. get police regional clearance along with med ready

5. ustraveldocs.com/in/ register account, input some info from DS-160, payment receipt details, then schedule appointment for biometrics, then it will let you select the consular interview dates, and finally it will let you select the visa/passport pickup options. print the appointment letter.

6. go for biometrics, for consular interview!

Just be sure to pack a satellite phone that's water proof, a life jacket with flashlight, and a flak jacket and you should be well prepared. 😀 Be safe and good luck for the interview.

Though I got the joke, haha.. satellite phones for civilian use are banned in India. Life/flak jackets, on the other hand, may come in handy in the current environment. :)

There is a tear that is placed the to ease the opening of your envelope at POE. I recommend that you place the envelope in a plastic bag and put it in your carry-on luggage and don't lose sight of it. This is normal and most people do receive their's with a slit in it.
