Technically yes people can be denied entry for past pot use. In reality how often is the question asked and in cases where it is asked how often is the issue pushed beyond a simple yes or no answer? I would venture to guess not very often but I could be wrong.

Let's look at going the other direction, into Canada.

If you've ever had a DUI in the US, you are forbidden from entering Canada.  Ditto for a drug conviction.

I did not know that. I promised the wife unit I would carry her to Niagara Falls to celebrate here citizenship.  I dont have either. Guess we jusit show passports

There are ways around it, from what I have heard.  Legal loops one must jump thru much like the visa process.  Takes time and money, and no guaranteee it will work.  A CBP officer has the authority to deny your entry at the border. Even if you are a passenger in the car, no intent to drive, still no entry.  Had to deal with this with soldiers going to Alaska.  Some could not drive thru, but had to fly, because of a DUI 15-20 years prior.  Ridiculous, me thinks.

Oh, and if you plan to carry a gun into Canada, be VERY certain it meets their requirements.  Canada is VERY strict on guns across the border.  Barrel length is critical for a pistol.  And if you have one, they want to know about ALL the guns you own.  Had a guy get held up for hours because he was driving thru, brought no guns, but admitted to owning them (they were at his father’s house).  He had to call his dad and verify serial numbers and registration over the phone at the border.  All the while, he had no guns with him.  What a debacle.  Don’t recommend taking a gun across the border, for simplicity.  Several soldiers had to give up their pistols at the border due to barrel length.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
