Friends,

this might be out of context but I would appreciate your input.

I am planning to go to India for my wife's CR1 interview. So I am purchasing a return ticket for myself. So I was wondering what I can do to ensure to bring my wife together in the same flight since I don't think it is a good idea to buy her ticket without getting her visa. How can I book my return flight along with her as an added companion on the return leg?  I will have about 5-7 days after her interview date for the return flight. I am worried I might not get her ticket on the same flight itinerary if I purchase her ticket that late.

You may need to rebook your ticket if you can't get her on the same flight. I would call the airlines once she's approved and see what they can do. If you haven't bought your ticket yet, definitely check the costs of rebooking versus buying an open return date ticket.

When do you start counting days of nvc. Is it when its approved? When its sent? Or when its received?

They say 8 weeks is the norm for casenumber assigned.

thank you, but what do you mean by 'not pivot'?

Pivot = electronic processing, non-pivot = non-electronic processing (i.e., documents are physically mailed to NVC versus uploaded on CEAC). Whether you are pivot or non-pivot depends on which country your embassy/consulate is in.

The clock starts from the date NVC receives your petition from USCIS.

Thank you so much.

Now to wait 8 weeks geez just to get case number.

I just wish that my partner can be here for holidays. This year has been hard. Living in Mexico in the most violent city is the worst.
