Hi everyone!  I'm an American citizen who filed for my Canadian fiancee. We got our NOA1 on May 16.  Glad to have other folks to commiserate and share advice with. :)  Sounds like most of us are in the "mmmmmmaybe we'll get an update in November?" boat...

I just created my timeline, says between 12-16th November. It’s forever away but at least it’s a little piece of mind having a rough date to go by

Noooooo,  It's not forever soon it will be our turn January 2018 filers are getting approved now so It's only a few months for us. This will all be worth it soon. Hang in there and just look at it it's already been over 60 days since NOA1 coming up on 90 real soon so time is not standing still.

what did they email?

If you sign up on the new web site and don't switch it off, they send you an email every two weeks even if nothing's happened on your case. Some people turn it off because they think seeing an email from USCIS and then reading 'no new action' is frustrating.

The "new" web site (which I think is almost a year old now) is at https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

Add your case to your account after signing up.

Note that the "one-time" password you'll get means that it only can be used once, not that you only have to enter a one-time password once, ever; you'll get one sent to you to use every time you try to log in there. So it's not really worth checking often this early in the process, in my opinion.

Also note that all of the USCIS and "Case Tracker" apps for iOS and Android are unofficial, and work by hitting the "old" web site. Very few (if any) K-1 cases are updated there anymore, so they no longer do scans in the threads for active months.

It's not really possible to write something that would scan the "new" web site the same way due to various security measures. I've thought about trying to write a case tracker for the new site (would be tricky; it would need a way to read your email or text messages), but mobile app development isn't really my background.
