Some consulates allow, some don't, so just clarify with possibly another VJ member from the same country in order clarify, that's the best reference for someone who recently has gone through it, or the country's forum on VJ

The medical in Ecuador cannot be scheduled until an interview appointment has been made.  I also wanted to save time by doing this ahead of time.  Fiancee called the medical center and was told a print out with the interview date was needed.

I'm quite sure it was. Too much chat log between now and then to go back and look and it appears he may be napping or out on a walk so it may take some time to get a definitive answer for you. Definitely try and schedule the medical now. The wait times are seriously long.

If you do get a hold if him let me know what he says! I'll have my fiance try and book it today or at least try tomorrow morning.  :)

This is what he said: "I called them. I used the LND number. It asks for the police report, questionnaire, photo ID, 4 photo's, vaccination and medical history"

Once you have your case number then submit the DS-160 and pay the interview fee, then schedule the appointment. You'll have an appointment confirmation page appear once you select a date which you print off a couple of copies to use for medical etc.

There is some old information for your portal, but maybe the links will lead you to current information. http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Ecuador&cty=Guayaquil

I'm looking for the Packet 3 letter for your Embassy so if you get a copy it would help others who are coming along behind you. Thanks.

Just asked her if he can book his medical because he has the case number now because I know they are filling up and won't be till the end of July. She said hold a bit longer because its not much further now.. Keep checking your email every so often this week. Its almost there.. So she must ohave known something but didn't want to press her because I know they are recorded and didn't want to get her in trouble for saying something she shouldn't

Be sure to check your spam folder. It's not unheard of as others have confirmed this has happened to them.

Thank you.  So it is possible to pay for the visa fee without scheduling the interview appointment at the same time? Think I'll do that.

I spoke to someone who recently went through an interview in Ecuador.  They said packet 3 is basically the NVC set of generic instructions.  Packet 4 is what the embassy sends you. I'll share such info once I get it.

I am a bit confused with the visa fee, I have seen that with the K1 visa there is not a fee and that's only for the CR-1 but is there a fee required for the K-1? What does that typically run? I believe for Spain, you pay the fee when prompted to schedule the interview after receiving packet 4

There are two different process's, one for the K-1 fiancé(e) non-immigrant and an entirely different process and fee payment for CR-1 married/family immigrant.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/immigrant-visa-for-spouse.html#6

If you receive your immigrant [CR-1] visa on or after February 1, 2013, you must pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you receive your immigrant visa and before you travel to the United States. Only children who enter the United States under the Orphan or Hague adoption programs, Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants, returning residents (SB-1s), and those issued K visas are exempt from this fee. Select USCIS Immigrant Fee on the USCIS website for more information.

You pay two fees as a K-1. One for the I-129F and the other for the interview. That's it. No other fees unless your Embassy does not include the medical fee within the standard interview fee.

Okay so there is an "interview" fee then for K1 but not an additional immigrant fee besides the fee that you submit when submitting your application in the beginning. Does the interview fee vary per country or anybody have any idea of what to anticipate for that?

Each Embassy is different. Some charge the interview fee and medical together and other separately. Don't know which is true for your Embassy but I'd recommending reading up on your process through some of the links that have been shared with you or wait till you receive the P3 as it will be listed there. Find information here http://ustraveldocs.com/

The Philippines charges $265 for the interview and $318 for the medical.
