There's another forum that is called Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas. Did you notice that? Maybe you will find more adequate info there?

I got this message today. Anyone have any insight? I already did my biometrics on April 13 but the website never updated. Nothing yet on EAD/ AP and today is day 83.

---

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: XXX

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On June 7, 2018, we transferred your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number XXX, to another office for processing and sent you a transfer notice. The notice explains why we transferred your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by July 7, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

I got my interview letter with the place and date! I have two questions though.

This is very unlucky but my husband happens to have a test that exact same day and he isn't sure they will allow him to take it another day. Would that count as an emergency to reschedule the interview? (I'm really hoping they will change it for him, because it would suck to reschedule).

Also, I noticed the place is different from where I had my biometrics. Where I had my biometrics is only 1hour away but in a different state, in CT. However my interview is 2 hours away but in MA. This is fine, as my husband will have to take the whole day off anyway and it doesn't really matter how long we have to drive, but does that mean my case got transferred or is it simply because that's the state I reside in, MA rather than CT? Is this common?

Thanks!!

Hey guys just came to say that my ead cane on last friday and yesterday ss card came with the ssn :) so if you receive your don’t worry about going to ss office as the card is on the way (of course if you marked it on your ead Form).

Hello,

Can you please guide me through all the steps that you did to expedite your EAD? and what did you tell the uscis officer (tier 2 officer?) about your situation? Did you need his/her approval to start the expedition?

Please let me know...

Thank you so much!

Hi, of course I can guide you, although I heard that they are really strict right now and it is way harder to get case expedited so I am not sure if my advice will help. Yes you need to call to make inquiry, First I called Uscis, and I didn’t even have to speak to tier 2. First person that I spoke to was able to make inquiry. I simply said that I want to expedite ead based on severe financial loss to a person and She did inquiry, asked me couple questions and told me that I will receive an email with fax number and information about paperwork they need me to fax. I got email the next day and responded to it. My fax contained:

1. Cover page I made myself with all our information, case number, inquiry number etc. I explained in my own words how my situation looks like, why I want to expedite, why I need it so bad.

2. print screen of the email that they send me, as it was said in the email to attach it to the fax.

3. letter from my employer with job offer

4. letter from employer with job description. Everything on official stationery. And that is all, 4 pages.

I didnt hear nothing from them at all for 3 weeks and than I received update that card is in production.

Is it a professional exam? Life or death? Based on how busy USCIS is right now, would not risk it at all.

Interviews are at the field offices where infopass is. Bios are done at the bio centee, one is run by DHS and other USCIS.

Oh, that's confusing.

thank you so much for your response.

Do you need to tell the officer about your finance situation? I am not sure I am eligible for expedition based on severe financial loss to a person, I want to expedite because I have a job offer that I really want to take, is it enough to make an inquiry?

5/05/18: Interview notice recvd for 6/07/18
6/07/18: Approved on the spot!

Interview was straight forward. We chitchat about where we were born, about our profession, then I got asked all the questions on I-485 form. That took 20 mins. Then he asked for supporting docs. He like the way I had organized it. I gave joint bank accounts, joint property, joint insurance, account beneficiaries, photos printed on paper. He simply took it and put it in file. No questions asked. Then said we will be approved. That's it. 45 mins later, status updated to Card in production.

Big congratulations! That's super early and smooth a journey! My status on the online USCIS platform is still "we have received your case", although did the biometrics just 2 days after you. Really hoping for an update soon.
