Hi all,

How long it usually takes for your expedite request to be assigned to an officer after you request to expedite?

Thank you :)

Not sure, but most people are requested to send in evidence roughly 2x days after the initial call. Some people get an email or some a letter. I got a letter which I got 5x days after my initial call.

To add to this, when USCIS requests evidence is when an officer is assigned to your case.  Mine was assigned to an officer, who mailed me a request for evidence, three days after I requested an expedite request over phone.  The mail came in a week or so later.

I read everyone’s experiences and thought I would pitch in. My PD is 09/24 and despite being almost 30 days in, I haven’t received my biometrics appointment letter yet. I called USCIS, the rep checked and said thay it wasn’t even issued yet. So I went ahead and placed a request to expedite the EAD based on job offer. My start date for the job is Nov 12. I hope that this request will get the bio appointment moving.

Timeline:

10/17 - requested to expedite the EAD over the phone

10/18 - received email from USCIS requesting job offer letter. I faxed it immediately along with a cover letter explaining why the job is important etc.

Now I’m waiting to see what’s next. I guess they will reject it because the bio is not done but at least they will see that and maybe schedule it. I also contacted my Senator. We’ll see what happens.

I am pretty sure it’s not possible but is there a chance they approve the EAD without the bio done?

09/24 - Package delivered to the Chicago Lockbox

09/28 - Credit card charged for $535 and $1225

10/02 - 4 texts received

10/09 - received 4 NOAs in the mail

10/17 - expedited EAD request, faxed proof the next day

10/22 - early biometrics walk-in

10/26 - "We mailed an RFE for I-485"

11/3 - received RFE in the mail for missing pages on I-864

11/5 - mailed out response to RFE

I received my EAD today.

Quick question, would I have any trouble during the interview for expediting my EAD due to "financial hardship"? Would the immigration officer think my petitioner/sponsor is not able to support me financially?

Your (the beneficiary's) income counts as long as you can prove it's not temporary and will continue if/after you receive a green card. Have your offer from work ready just in case. The point of making enough money is to show that you won't even be eligible for benefits, it technically doesn't matter who makes the money as long as it's not temporary. Anyone could lose their job, so the best they can do is make sure you (both of you) are able to hold employment that makes enough money.

Having to make even more money is perfectly reasonable. You're ineligible for benefits whether you make $100k or $100m. Unless you're a corporation I guess, but that's a separate subject.

I've been waiting for almost 8 months for my EAD, do I need to any sort of evidence if I request an expedite in this case? SR is getting me nowhere

Yes.  Here's the accepted criteria for an expedite: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

If there's a criteria option that applies, then you'll have to submit evidence of that.

I've seen a lot of people whose expedite requests were rejected because the biometrics weren't done, and none whose expedite requests were accepted before the biometrics. But who knows.

So are you expediting your EAD because you have a job offer and "severe financial loss" or because you want your biometrics to happen sooner?

It's a close call for a Nov. 12 start date. It looks like expedite requests are taking longer in general (over a month from the request date). Without the biometrics completed, I'm guessing it won't happen. Will they hold the job for you?

Since my reply from yesterday, I have received the bio appointment and will do a walk-in on Monday morning. Since it’s weekend, they won’t work on my expedite request anyway. So I’m hoping that when they begin reviewing my request next week the bio will be done.

I an expediting because I have a legit job offer. The offer is from a well-known, big company. I explained to HR my situation and they said it’s alright if it’s like one week past the start date.

Good luck! They might still reject your expedite request since it takes at least a day to process the biometrics, so be prepared to try to reopen your expedite case (rather than having to wait for 5-10 days, whatever it is, before you can submit another one). Hopefully they don't work on it for a few days anyway and look past it.

This is a weird one, so keep us posted. I think most people would suggest that you have waited to expedite until you had your biometrics submitted, but you're right on the line of everything happening at the same time so I'm curious to hear how it goes. Hope it goes well!

I hope so too. I’ve seen that most fingerprints clear in one day. So if I go on Monday, the review of the fingerprints should be completed by Tuesday. I hope they won’t start working on my request first thing on Monday morning. I also contacted my Senator, just for extra help. I read y’all timelines here and most of you had around one week between submitting the fax and receiving the 3 status updates, right?

My biometrics should have been done by now. That is why I decided to expedite before the appointment. My PD is Sept 24, I should’ve received the appointment letter around October 10.

Hello All,

My PD is Sept-27 and I just did biometrics this morning. I am currently working under OPT which expires on Nov-20 so I really need to expedite the EAD so I can continue my employment. Can I request an expedite request now or I should wait a couple of days after the biometrics? Please advise.

Thanks,
