Adjustment on the medical test

Hi, I am in the process of applying an immegration to the US, I have reached to the medical exam however, I recevied an email from the NVC that the medical test would be made at the US when I arrive because the congress had made an adjustment to the US immegration law. The office even asked me for 4500 $ for me and my family. I would like to know whether there is an adjustment to the law and that I should go to the interview first and then the medical examination would be at the US when I arrive, or there is such a problem and the emails I have been receiving since a month a go is just a hack?

What really?

This is not possible

4500$

You should contact NVC again and discuss this matter

Scam.  You may want to let the US embassy and your local police  cyber crime unit know so they can look into it.

Definitely a scam, agree you should report this to your local embassy too so they can warn others and maybe take action. The fact that the scam is so well targeted likely means there is an insider involved somewhere, did you already previously contact the usual medical provider before you got the scam email?

May I ask what country you are in?

I am from Egypt. However, the mail is directed from an email which has .gov at the end.

You can

- call the embassy to check the validity of the email

- go online to NVC site to see what they say

- do an internet search to check the supposed change in the law

- do an internet search to confirm that any medical no matter whether done in or out of the US is paid to the doctor doing it, not NVC or any other government branch

- go back to the DoS immigration websites that should be your bible through this to see what it currently says about the medical; let me help you here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare/medical-examination.html

or

- send this ridiculous amount of money to the scammer and then get put on administrative processing  when you arrive at your interview without having done the medical, because no immigrant visa can be issued without the medical exam having been done first, as well as lament losing $4500 while you wait.
