After reading all the posts about extension vs. courtesy letter, I took a look at ours and noticed it's also just a "courtesy copy" and the official notice has been sent to our addressed specified in form G-28.

So when will be get the actual notice? This is a little odd and doesn't make sense, because why send out a courtesy copy when you can just send the notice? So now I'm going to be nervous about the actual coming, haha, but it just seems a little strange that they send you a copy of a notice that they are also sending (according to the letter, it's already been sent, so why haven't we gotten it yet?). The notice date is 08/18/2018.

I've called the helpline. I filed a query. That's how I got the 18m extension letter back in June, they just fobbed me off with that and "it takes as long as it takes." Meanwhile I sit here growing increasingly paranoid they're dragging their heels because what they really want is to undo my marriage. Any other same-sex couples in here that can make me feel better?

(speaking from our experience only) We're also a same-sex couple and we haven't had any issues.  Just the same waiting times like everyone else.  At the interviews and biometrics along the way, the USCIS staff have always been professional and treated us with the same respect as everyone else.  Good luck.

We're a same-sex couple also. Our I-129F took longer to get approved then other people's that filed the same time that we did (we filed that way back in November 2014, how time flies!) but who knows why that was. At every other step I've felt we were treated the same as any other couple.

That said, Tween, I do worry...like a lot. We've decided to wait to file the N-400 until after that 10 year GC is in my wife's hand.

Same case here...received a courtesy letter dated 8/18 talking about how they already sent the letter but it's nowhere to be found 🙄🤷‍♀️

Husband has to renew his driver's license soon, I'm really hoping they accept the I-751 at the DMV

Hello all. I am a Feb. 2017 CSC filer. It took us almost 18 months to get the 10 year card. I just dropped in to give you some support and to tell you to keep the faith. I am not going to lie, it was a loooooong process. All will be well.

Hi,

I've received my 18 months extension as well with Notice Date: 08/18/2018.

Also we recently went to a cruise from Galveston to Mexico and we had no issues during entry.

I've got all of you three on the tracking table. As for the driver's license, it seems to vary from state to state. Kind of feels a bit ridiculous to me that you're being denied that right while you're following regular protocol. Something seems amiss there. I am not sure what you do, seems like breaking the law might be the only option for some. I would need to drive to work every day, no other way around it.

Thanks for stopping by. Sounds about right based on what we've been hearing. Long way to go just yet, not even at the 12-month mark.

Here's the latest copy of the tracking table for all.

We're not a same-sex marriage, but we're in the same boat with you in regards to biometrics. As starsky noted, we're all kind of within a same time frame for this situation. We've called a couple times, got the "we have no updates at the time", site reflects the same, "it takes as long as it takes", etc., etc. We didn't hear anything until we got the 18 month notice, which I am taking as a good sign.

Thanks! Good luck! :)

(speaking from our experience only) We're also a same-sex couple and we haven't had any issues.  Just the same waiting times like everyone else.  At the interviews and biometrics along the way, the USCIS staff have always been professional and treated us with the same respect as everyone else.  Good luck.

Yeah I've never had a problem with the individuals I've spoken to along the way, just a bit of paranoia setting in about The System. Especially as my local office is based in... *shudder*... Missouri.

Heh I'm sure I'm an outlier here but I have zero intention of ever applying for citizenship so at least I don't have to worry about that :D Good luck with your application!

I went to walmart today for job orientation and I was told  they don’t recognize the letter so I should leave and they will call me back, because they have to verify the extension letter or I should go and wait till I get the card.

Explained myself and explained everything but still, I show them my drivers license which is not expired, still they said they will call me back.

Am comfuse.

I also got a letter in the mail today saying they are able to reuse my biometric data from the first GC application! Yay.

Please update my info when possible. This is for CSC.

I got my notice that I don’t have to come in for fingerprints either—for the hassle it is getting them done, keeping my money seems like the better option. Dated 5/5/18.

Ask them if they are familiar with the Anti-Discremantion Notice at the very top of the I-9

Has anyone traveled with the extension letter but wasn't asked to show it when returning to the US?

My wife and I have traveled internationally 3 times with her expired GC and extension letter. On two different occasions, she wasn't asked to show her letter.  When I look in the I-94 Travel History page, both of those trips shows the departure but not the arrival.

The third trip she was asked for the extension letter upon our return, the travel history shows both the departure and arrival.
