Forgive me if there is already a similar thread (checked and didn't see one) but I was just sitting here thinking how awsome would it be to share and talk about the more romantic side of this process.

I'll start by sharing the wedding dress I hope to get (currently out of stock but I've messaged the seller for details). ^_^

What plans do you have? Feel free to share dresses, rings, cakes... whatever it is you are excited about. ;)

you know ... all i want his him HOME.

i have a dress. and its pretty, and i do love it. But the odds of me actually wearing it? slim to none. like so many, a courthouse wedding (or if i can find someone to marry us at our home would be even better). And then a party at our home later several months later. wearing the dress at that point seems .... silly.

But too, we are older, have been married before with all the hoopla .... so, for us ... i dont know. it just seems..... unnecessary?

I have my dress - it's one that I was going to buy anyhow, and my best friend ended up getting it for me for my Christmas gift. It's just a nice, knee length dress with a print of a Monet painting on it.    I'll also be wearing the hair piece that my mother had in her hair for her wedding, in mine.

That's it as far as plans go for us.  Courthouse wedding + dinner afterwards. Neither of us wants nor cares about a big (or even a little) party. I have said that I intend on making us a little cake, but that's mostly... because cake.

Nice topic. ^_^

I'm on the same page as debbiedoo. I've been married before, and so has he. At this point all we really want is to just be together. The official wedding will be a simple courthouse thing cause it's just impossible to plan anything without a date. My friends and family wont be able to be at the wedding, they won't be able to get vacation time or tickets on such short notice. Some of our US friends wont even be able to attend due to the same time constraint. On top of that, money will be short for a while with me not being able to work till I got my EAD. As a (for now...) single father of 4 he doesn't have much to spare. So we'll just keep it simple.

We are planning to do a 'big' celebration for our 1st anniversary though.

I like this topic 💗💗💗talk about wedding is way more fun than waiting for NOA2!

We plan to do the courthouse and party separately, as everyone mentions it’s not possible to plan a wedding without a date...

So for us basically courthouse is planned on 5/4(yay yay Star Wars😁 ) with very few witness like family/best friends. I really hope I could get my VISA by then...

Party will be in ~2 months later so that we could plan it a bit, but I guess it’s me to plan it mostly cuz it takes up to 3 months to get EAD, so I have nothing more important to do compared with planning the party....

Havent really start to look for wedding dress, I’m still on diet😋

Have a cool/special idea of the engagement ring: my fiancée plans to buy a couple of engagement rings with different diamonds like Ruby/emerald etc., so that the engagement ring could match with my daily dressing style, but those diamonds are expensive so we will start with a few, and maybe buy more as our anniversary gift

Hmmmm sounds like a new chapter of life will start soon!

I love this thread! We'll be doing a courthouse wedding too at first, when my fiance gets here. And this is the dress I'll be wearing!

All the pretty dresses

I got a wooden engagement ring. :D I know, very untraditional. It's from a company in Chicago that I LOVE called Simply Wood Rings. The inside is American oak and the outside European bogwood with an inlay of rosequartz.

We'll get real simple wedding rings for the courthouse wedding. At the renewal of our vows he is planning to get me a more traditional set.

For us, we actually started planning the wedding before we realised how lengthy the visa process was

We met whilst living and working abroad, and got engaged during a trip to the US where we decided we might as well start planning and looking at venues etc... then we spoke to a lawyer who said "Yeah, no problem, you'll have visa in hand in about 6 months." HAH.

Luckily, we actually planned the wedding for late May this year, which is a full year from out initial application. I have my interview Wednesday, so fingers crossed!

It's going to be a relatively traditional (non-religious) British/American style wedding and I feel incredibly lucky that a lot of my family and friends will be flying out to join us.

Honestly though, if we'd known what we know now, I think we would have eloped to the mountains too!
