You have no idea what this program is about or who the major beneficiaries are. Few parents can plan for congential defects  or lukemia.

Isn’t this issue a done deal when congress passed the funding bill?  Seems the posted article is a bit dated.

CHIP covers about 9 million children across the nation whose parents usually earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford private health coverage — typically no more than $62,000 for a family of four. The program cost about $15.6 billion in fiscal 2016, funded almost entirely by the federal government.

 

And you can relax... it was extended by Congress.

I actually agree with Mango on this one. If this allowed to expire then I would be pissed because it does help out kids that need it.
