My personal research (and this is totally my personal impression) have told me that USCIS is likely to conduct a naturalization interview 2 weeks or a month after your Green Card anniversary date. For example, given that my Green Card anniversary date is December 1, 2017 (I became a LPR on December 1, 2014) USCIS is LIKELY to conduct my interview AFTER December 1, 2017. I have never seen anyone who filed for naturalization on either 3-year or 5-year rules attended their interviews BEFORE their  Green Card anniversary dates. For this reason, I believe my interview might be a few days, a few weeks after that date or in January if I am lucky enough. AND if this is the case, I should expect to receive an interview letter or notice sometime in November. That being said, the timeline on https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ shows that I will have to wait until April 2018 until my interview will be scheduled. I am not sure how accurate this timeline is.

Does anyone have any other thoughts to share? Thank you.

Which anniversary date? The one for conditional or the one for after removing conditions? If it's the one after removing conditions, my next green card anniversary date is February 2020. But when I check my uscis account, it says that the estimated case completion date is November 2019.

I wouldn't place any value on the estimated completion date online.  Not sure when you applied but figure around 12 months from application to interview in NYC at the moment (less if you are Holtsville, those guys move fast!!).

Sharing my Interview experience at Federal Plaza dated Apr 8, 2019 at 10:00AM

My spouse and I arrived at Federal Plaza 9:00AM, I was expecting that the guard won't allow us to enter the building since we're an hour ahead of my appointment time, but surprisingly the guard let us in.

We did the same process like everyone did about the screening at the lobby (like an airport security screening) workers at the lobby were not friendly at all and keep on yelling to some visitors that can't follow the instructions.

I was surprised as well that they don't let us remove our shoes but asks us instead to remove any metal thing from our body which was expected.

At the lobby you can see which elevator you need to go on you floor location so we proceeded on the right elevator and get off on the floor that was written on my interview notice.

After we get off from the elevator a guy on the door greeted us in a nice way and ask for our purpose, I just told him for Naturalization interview and ask for my interview notice, he said we're early but it's fine we can take a seat.

While we were seated my spouse told me to go to the window where the guy scanning the interview notice. I get up and went to the window and greeted the guy good morning, he said you're here for Naturalization interview? and I said yes.

He asked me if I have a lawyer and told him no, just me and my spouse, then he scanned my interview notice and wrote the IO name on my interview notice and gave me a number. He said take a seat first and wait for your number to be called.

I've noticed some applicants ask to go down to the 4th floor after the guy scanned their interview notice, which I found out because these people applications were situated on the 4th floor that is why they asked to go down.

Waited for 20 mins and an African American IO called my number, I stand up and greeted her but didn't bother to response, so for me that kind of gesture thinks she was so serious and I it's part of their job.

She asked me to follow to her room and ask me to remain stand and raise my right hand and take an Oath, she told me to seat and give to her my DL, green card and passport.

While I was seating she's keep on flipping my application which I think 5 inches thick LOL, and I was surprised that even my ROC 5 inches thick as well was there and she was checking.

We were quiet for about 7 mins then she started talk, she told me so you got your 10 years green card when? so I told her last year of June, and she said and you filed your naturalization same month? I told her correct.

Then she said, okay lets start with civic test, I can't remember all the questions but I answered the first 6 questions correctly then she stopped, then she asked me to read and write after the civic test and told me I passed.

She went through everything about my application from my full name 'till the last page of my application, these includes about my travel outside the US and the yes and no question, she asked me as well if I want to change my name and responded no. After that, she asked me to check the tablet in front me and to verify if all of my information were correct and sign it if everything is correct and told me that is the information that will print to your certification, I signed and accept it and we were quiet again for 5 mins again, while she's clicking her mouse and busy staring her monitor.

Then she asked me if I already filed our taxes for 2018 and I said yes, and she asked me to show to her and asked me as well if we have the recent joint account bank statement, I told her I have everything from 2014 to present (2019)

She told me I only need the recent month, I hand over to her our tax filing and our recent joint account statement and she checked each pages and the transaction of the statement.

After that she told me congratulation I will approved your application and expect a letter from the mail for your Oath Ceremony, I told her thank you. She printed the N-652 with x marks that I passed the civic test and recommended for approval and gave it to me. She asked me, do you have any questions for me, I said no I'm good then she escorted me outside and told me enjoy your day and I told here thank you and you too!

The interview lasted for 45 mins. I did not get the email and notification approval same day but I feel relived since I have the N-652 that I was recommended for approval and passed the civic test.

April 9, 2019 9:00am, I got three email and text notifications. One was we approved your case, the other one was I"m online for oath ceremony and the last one was we scheduled your oath ceremony.

My journey is almost end and thank you for everyone's contribution, will update my timeline soon once I have the oath schedule.

Hope this experienced helps and sorry for the long message.

I'm considering attending my wife's oath ceremony in Brooklyn. Does anyone have any recent experience attending as a family member / guest without sitting around in the cafeteria for 3h? I don't think I'm motivated enough to do that. Is there a way to go in the courtroom just prior to the actual oath? Can I bring a work bag / laptop through security? Also if anyone has attended with toddlers and babies, I'd appreciate any relevant information and tips. It sounds like it wouldn't be fun for them but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

Has this happened to anyone?

I got my oath ceremony on last week saying that my oath ceremony is on April 12th.

last night i got a call from USCIS saying my oath ceremony was canceled and it will be reschedule because my background has not been cleared. Then an hour later my account was updated saying that I missed the appointment even if the appointment was due the next day at 830am (today). I am so confuse. I tried to call and nobody has any information. I tried calling the number that called me and it goes to the VM of an officer Chen.

I am lost and my anxiety is through the roof.

Can I bring a work bag / laptop through security? Also if anyone has attended with toddlers and babies, I'd appreciate any relevant information and tips. It sounds like it wouldn't be fun for them but I figured I'd ask anyway.

You can attend in the court, but, they will take away your phone, laptop, and even smart watch. I have seen people attend with toddlers and babies. The whole family went in and sat together.

Can I bring a work bag / laptop through security? Also if anyone has attended with toddlers and babies, I'd appreciate any relevant information and tips. It sounds like it wouldn't be fun for them but I figured I'd ask anyway.

My oath ceremony took place at Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn.

My husband and daughter had to wait in a sectioned off area of the cafeteria where they were able to watch proceedings on a monitor with the other families.  Before the actual oath ceremony takes place, they send an escort to bring you all down into the courtroom where you are seated in a section reserved for family members.  They waited roughly 2 hours before being called down.

You cannot bring a cell phone or camera into the building---they will instruct you to leave it at the security desk on the first floor where you enter and then retrieve it afterwards.  Laptops, not sure about....likely they would make you leave that with security as well, though.

Toddlers/babies:  Depends on how they normally behave, only you would really be the judge of that.  Once the actual ceremony begins, if the child starts to make noise/fuss/cry you'll have to take them outside the courtroom doors and miss the ceremony yourself (out of consideration for everyone else there)...my advice is to get a babysitter for that day for them.  It's a lot to ask a young child to sit quietly for lengthy periods of time.

You can't really just show up to the courtroom right before the ceremony takes place----One of the reasons being is your wife's ceremony letter is what gets you inside the courthouse as her guest.  Another is once the courtroom doors are closed, court is in session and while guests are permitted to leave the courtroom, it's possible you will be blocked from entering by the attendant outside.  She will be keeping the ceremony letter on her during all of the prior checks in the courtroom before the actual oath takes place (so it's not like you can keep it on yourself to get in and out of the building).  Another thing to consider is that going through security at the courthouse can take a while depending on how busy they are that day---which can further delay you getting upstairs at the last minute should you be admitted through.

Don't let not being able to bring a laptop/having to wait around be the only thing to deter you from attending---it's a big day for your wife and she's waited a long time (and gone through a lot of stress) to get to this point...she'll want to share this day with you.  Congrats to your wife.

Unable to do my interview, as my still pending (second!) I-751 wasn't there, and was still in Vermont. This is despite a notice that the I-751 had been transferred to the local office shortly after the N-400 application was filed, as is standard procedure.

Waited in there for three hours to be told that.

The sheer incompetence of USCIS is absolutely staggering.

Same thing happened to me last year 06/18....I finally got interviewed for my I -175 04/04/2019, got approved on the spot after almost 2 and a half yrs wait. received my card in the mail 04/11/19 ...I hope to get my N400 rescheduled soon - would give USCIS a call on monday just to check.

MUCHOS GRACIAS :)

Congrats! Just wait for between 4 - 6 weeks for your oath ceremony. Oath letter about 2 weeks or so.
