How Soon From Interview Can You Come To The U.S.

After a long 3+ months of trying to get the NVC to explain why our marriage certificate was deemed unsatisfactory, our case was finally documented as complete and we were given our interview date scheduled for Oct 27! WHOO! Too many celebrations to be had, haha! Now one of our biggest questions in trying to plan things as accordingly and affordably as possible is how soon can someone come to the U.S. after a successful interview date? Is the time frame particularly different according to the consulate? Do any of my fellow Nepali visajourneymen know the set time or how long it took you to have all of the official things you required to leave?

As soon as you have your passport back from the embassy, you can travel. I received my passport on a Tuesday and flew 6 days later. I read a thread where a person collected their passport on the say to the airport and took a flight 4 hours later.

Best to wait until you actually have the psssport back before making any firm plans and purchasing tickets.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

As others have said, you can go as soon as you have your passport back with the approved visa.  Make no travel plans until you have it.

the day u collect passport with a visa you can fly. Well, we flew after 15 days because I wanted to visit Nepal with my wife, eat dal bhat, drink gorkha beer and go to MANAKAMANA TEMPLE with my wife. We did all that and wrapped my professional life in India and flew back.

15 days went by so fast that I was rushing from here to there.

REMEMBER: YOU GET A PCC FROM NEPAL (I DONT REMEMBER THE PLACE BUT IN KATHMANDU), THEN YOU HAVE TO GO TO MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THEY CALL PARRASHTRA IN NEPAL AS A SLANG) TO GET THAT PCC STAMPED AGAIN.

if your visa is issued from Nepal then fly from nepal to usa.. dont fly from delhi. flights from delhi to US are cheaper than from nepal.

I am a nepali citizen and I lived in Delhi and my visa was issued from delhi. I flew from Delhi coz i had indian pcc as well and i dealt with the immigration in Delhi many times so i knew how to handle them. but please dont take flight from delhi if your husband lived in nepal.. they will make his life hell in immigration in Delhi as i have seen them asking strange questions to Nepali citizen travel from India to any other country other than Nepal.

P.S: Please dont put him in China air coz its horrible. Dont fly from Heathrow coz you need transit visa .. try to put him in a flight in Emirates .. no emirates fly from nepal but you can get connecting flights.

Big fan of Emirates coz of their exceptional service.
