Filed I-130 can I File for a B-2 Visa Morocco

I filed I-130 for my husband earlier this month. He's in Morocco. Could I file for a B-2 Visa (DS-160)? I understand it's a long shot due to high fraud country. I don't care losing my money trying. However would the processing be quicker than the I-130? Would it affect the I-130 petition? I'm just desperate to spend time with him. I can't visit due to starting a new job. My employer is very unreasonable.

 

Any suggestions on countries we could meet up at with Moroccan passport with short flight time from the U.S.?:D

You don't file a B2 for anyone. He has to apply for it himself and will only be granted one based on his own merits. As you've mentioned it's a high fraud country, coupled with your existing I-130 filing, it's very unlikely that he'll be granted a visa because he has already shown immigration intent.

 

Maybe Mexico? Canada might be tough for him.

Don't waste your time. Morocco is stingy as it is with visas. Your best bet if you don't want to link up in Morocco is to go to Turkey or Dominica, Brazil, maybe Kenya. There aren't a whole lot of options for Moroccans and unless he's already traveled outside Morocco several times, he will - not it's unlikely, but will not get a B2 visa.

As Alicia said above, it's very difficult for a single Moroccan man to be granted a tourist visa. If he's traveled outside of Morocco often or has a stable job and can prove strong ties to Morocco like owning property, running a business, ect. then he might stand a chance for the tourist visa. The odds are against him however, especially with the I-130 petition being processed. It doesn't take long for him to apply for one (the application is all on him, you can't sponsor him in anyway like the I-130).

 

I get how frustrating it is not being able to visit. Time off can be hard to come by in the US sometimes...
