“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Whatever issues they have they need them solved before they go to serve in the military.

It's for people who are mentally fit for service not people who are confused.

Do we allow those with depression to serve?  Anxiety?  How many have untreated ptsd?

Being fit for service is crucial in having a competent military, and a uniform rule that transgender people aren't an exception to despite nonsensical political efforts to give them special treatment.

I fail to see how one could be unfit if they're transgendered.  There are many who aren't fit to serve yet still do

They're clearly confused and this mental problem will only serve as a liability for the military. Not fit for service.

I have severe ADHD and a history of defiance toward authority. I'm not fit for service either despite trying to join the USAF following my dad's service in the Marines. Not everyone needs to be because it isn't for everyone.

I disagree that it's a mental disorder

What they need is a safe space.

I agree to disagree

Whining about being catered to before you even join is a huge red flag.

People with mental breakdowns are often discharged.

What positive outcome results from this? This isn't a Michael Jackson music video. It's the military.

As someone who actually served with many gay/trans people I don't really see an issue with it considering even the military that faces some of the biggest issues in the world deals with it.

While Trans weren't always accepted as gleefully(although that has changed too), you were always able to be openly gay and serve long before "don't ask don't tell" in the US.

I don't see openly gay people pre-emptively demanding hormone therapy and other stuff. The issue with them was simply being kicked out of the military for being gay. A very different issue.

The issue isn't with the transgender person but the social justice demands of the military that serve as a distraction. It aligns with the same premise of why those with existing mental problems aren't allowed.

The people demanding this forget a few key things:

- The military isn't for everyone

- Its a privilege, not a right

The left turning this into a rights issue only shows this is a dumb attempt to turn the military into a social justice squad. Good way to annihilate the military.
