HELP! Interview scheduled this week but case still at NVC. K-1 fiance visa

Hello,

Last month I called the NVC and received our case number. Since I had the case number my fiance completed his ds-160 and has gotten his medical and police record. We scheduled his interview this week online. I check on the Department of State Tracker website and it says our case is at the NVC and there are 6 steps needed before NVC can schedule his interview.

I never received a letter or email from the NVC and neither has my fiance. We thought that the fiance schedules the visa interview and not NVC and NVC just mails the approved petition to the embassy

Please help!!! We are lost and confused. Were we supposed to schedule an interview at the Jamaica embassy? What documents are needed to submit to NVC

Why didn't you wait for the status to change to "ready" and for the embassy to contact you? From what I can see in your post you need to reschedule your interview.

And the message that you see on NVC about 6 steps is for immigrant visas. The K-1 is not an immigrant visa.

When I look up our case number in the non-immigrant side nothing shows up but I filed for a K-1 visa and our USCIS approval say fiance visa. I'm so confused

It is logged at the NVC as an immigrant visa but it isn't processed there. K1 is a dual intent visa. You are supposed to schedule at the embassy but upon scheduling it asks you to not go any further unless you have received furter instructions from the embassy.

Our case is still at nvc after 6 weeks and not in transit. The sites still talks about 6 steps. What are we to do to get our case sent to the embassy?

Hello, its been 6 weeks since I called and got my case number from the NVC. Our case is still at the NVC and has not been sent to the embassy yet. When I check the status of the case it says immigrant visa and talks about 6 steps need to take. I thought with the k-1 fiance visa the case is just forwarded to the embassy what are these 6 steps. Help please. We already schedule fiance interview for this week hoping that by 7 weeks the embassy would have received everything by now.

How were you able to schedule the interview before the embassy received your application? And have you called NVC and asked them what the hold up is?

Sounds logic to call NVC and ask why the status says your case is still at NVC

Agree with what's stated above, you probably have to reschedule.   You aren't supposed to schedule your interview until your CEAC status says "ready for interview".  You can call the NVC and see what the hold up is and why it's taking a longer time to be sent, but the consulate still can't interview you without your case file.

Our Journey:
04/19/2014- Met online
10/2014- Visited Nigeria and he proposed!!!!
02/28/2015- Sent I-129F petition
03/05/2015- NOA1
09/2015- Visited Nigeria again!!!
10/28/2015- NOA2 (237 day wait at TSC)
11/13/2015- Sent to NVC
11/27/2015- Arrived at Embassy
06/2016- Third visit to Nigeria!
06/15/2016- Interview, given option to file I-601 waiver.
08/16/2016- Waiver submitted (no lawyer).
11/21/2016- Waiver approved with expedite.
01/2017- Embassy requested interview.
04/2017- Fourth visit to Nigeria.  K1 officially denied.
04/25/2017- NOA1 for 2nd K1.
07/27/2017- Case transferred to TSC.
11/17/2017- Case transferred back to CSC.
01/16/2018- NOA2!! (266 day wait)
03/08/2018- Interview (AP)
05/03/2018- VISA APPROVAL!!!
05/14/2018- Visa issued
05/18/2018- Visa picked up
05/25/2018- HE'S HOME!!! 💙💙💙

The 6 steps don't apply to you. No NVC processing applies to you.

I would call them as suggested by others.

Hello, speaking from personal experience, here are the steps that I did. Except for the DS-230, I don't know if the other steps changed.

02/05/2013                  USCIS sent approved I-140 to the NVC

03/01/2013                  Case created at NVC

03/05/2013                  NVC requested online payment of $405 immigrant processing fee

03/06/2013                  Paid immigrant processing fee

03/07/2013                  NVC processed immigrant processing fee

03/11/2013                  Form DS-230 and other supporting documents sent to NVC via FEDEX

03/13/2013                  NVC received FEDEX packet

03/25/2013                  NVC completed document review of case

04/01/2013                  Received email from NVC saying that they have received all necessary documents to complete pre-processing of case

05/03/2013                  Received NVC notification of June 21, 2013 interview date at the US Embassy Manila; application packet forwarded to the US Embassy

It's only after these steps that I was able to start my medical since the clinic needs that notification letter from NVC in the first place.

I even changed my interview appointment date to May 20 thinking that that the Embassy should have had my application packet by then.

Went to the Embassy on May 20 but a few minutes after I sat down, I was called to a window. My packet hasn't arrived yet. I thought when NVC said 'forwarded', they meant scanned pdf files. :))). She just gave me the embassy phone number for update inquiries so I ask her if I can call every friday. Three Fridays later, my application packet arrived. It arrived on June 7, so I was still able to have my Interview re-scheduled to June 13.

Hope this helps.

Before they send your appliation to the embassy, U must have the Case # Invoice # and the benificiary# . NVC will send you an email & Instructions fo the nxt steps. Once you have that your status in ceac will automatically changed to 'transit' to 'ready' Good luck! :)
