I-751 July 2017 Filers

I mailed my pack off on Monday - USPS tracking shows it was received on Wednesday (7/25).  Here's hoping that I've filled in the form correctly and that they cash my check and start looking through my evidence - my whole packet weighed in 2lb 13 oz.

I was meant to send it off on June 29 (when my 90 day window opened), but we had our first child (daughter) on June 10th and the world has been a little crazy since then.  I'm so glad I got most of my packet together before she arrived.

I can't believe it's been over 2 years since we were all on this journey before.  Was anyone else a March 2015 filer for their AOS?

AOS Journey

3.25 Pack sent to Chicago Lockbox (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131) by Overnight FedEx

3.26 Pack arrived at Chicago Lockbox

3.31 Email and texts arrived saying case was received, receipt # allocated, all MSC numbers

4.6 NOIs received by mail

4.17 Letter with biometrics appointment date received

4.21 Walked in early to ASC for biometrics appointment (original date was 4.27) and was seen

6.16 Put in request with service center as EAD over 75 days

6.17 Called State Senator's office and asked for their help with chasing USCIS for the EAD

6.18 Status updated saying EAD card being shipped

6.19 EAD arrived

6.28 i-485 status updated to "Ready for Interview"

9.27 Interview attended

10.05 Green card received

ROC Journey

*realizes that ROC window opens 24 days after I'm due to give birth to first child, panics, and starts to figure out the prep now, even through it's January and 5 months early*

I called the USCIS (followed menu path posted a few pages ago)... gentleman told me that because they are dependents they won't necessarily get one but that my letter will cover them as well. We can get them stamped if needed, otherwise we should be fine.... Did you make an Infopass appointment to do this?

As for the biometrics app't letter, he gave me the usual "wait 30 days" statement, which I expected, but I will try to have mine done when I take the girls up next Thursday. If they decline me, I'm fine with making a 2nd trip.... the office is about an hour away, and fortunately my boss is really great :)

Hi :)

You see, my son is older than your girls, so we definitely needed "something' for him in case if he needs to re-new his driver license or to travel. Especially for travel ..

I wonder how an Extension Letter covers dependents.. if there is only YOUR info there  - your A#, your name and etc. Not a word about dependents.

But I'm not "surprised" with the answer you got from Customer Service Line   - when I called the first time to inquire about son's NOA1, I was told that he has to file I-131 if he needs to travel... During ROC? Really??? After that "awesome" answer I asked to be transferred to a supervisor.

A Tier 2 Immigration Officer we've seen today (yes, we made an InfoPass appointment) asked for my Extension Letter, looked at that and said that there is no way to see from my NOA1 that my son's ROC is pending or his status has been extended. ..And stamped his passport :)

Sure, the girls will be fine during this process :)  - a IO can see their status in the system. But it's only within  US.

So if you decide to travel, I would suggest to get their passports stamped.  I'm not worried about US Customs - they will recognize dependents' status here. My huge concern is to get out of another country - the girls, most likely, won't be allowed boarding at all because there is no way a Customs of any other country has an idea what girls status is in the US  since our Extension Letters don't indicate dependents..

Interesting!  The only "travel" is the same we do every other weekend - drop the girls off at their dad's place back in Canada, then come back into the US on Sunday evenings...  We enter Canada with our Nexus cards, and if early enough we enter the US with the Nexus cards too (but I have all our greencards & documents with us in the car)....

Did your son have to attend the Infopass appointment with you, or can you do this on your own?  My girls are too young to have to worry about driver's licences and such.... I may get it for them though - just in case....though that means getting into Detroit early in the day :P

I agree. For us, the immigration process in USA for me has been more straight forward than the immigration process in Mexico for my husband. That's the reason we are in USA. He had a lot of trouble getting his work permission there.

But basically with the extension letter you can do the same that with the Green Card, right? There is not limitation. So the worries are more subjective than objective.

Yes. That is true. It is just a wait game after that. Just be sure to meet all deadlines and follow all instrutions and WAIT. Hehe?

I went along with my son. I just mentioned "two visitors", making an appointment. And the lady, the IO, actually started talking to me, as soon as she recognized I'm the "principal applicant"

If you decide to do that, I'd say go closer to girls green cards expiration dates, because green cards can be kept be USCIS "in exchange" for a stamp. :)

I will try to call that number and see if they can tell me if I am already scheduled . But no one picks up after you press 3 then 2...just another damn long blah blah blah.

Hi :)

someone will pick it up :) You just need to listen to the end after you pressed 2.. the last "2" I mean. It's gonna be a long "robot speech" again - yes, they definitely like telling us "the stories"   But at the end of all this blah-blah you will here "press 1 for something (don't remember for what), and press 6 "to speak to  a representative"  ;)

You know, it'll be just a contractor, not an Immigration Officer. But our goal is: 1.  - to reach someone "alive" first and

                                                                                                                         2. -  somehow to convince that person that you really need to speak with a IO...

I wish you luck and really hope everything will work for you...

I must be pressing the wrong options as if when I press 3 then 2 ..I get  the following: when you press 2, you get info on what roc means and how to do it; what forms are for what ; visit uscis for more info and talk to virtual emma and you can download forms. End of that message is press 1 to order form and if you want to speak to representative about topic..you need to call back m-f  8-6pm  ( I am calling at 330 pm PST)

>pressed 4 for LPR

Once you get your biometrics notice you can use the receipt number on that (not the one on your NOA, they're two different numbers) to check your case status. If you have or make a profile on USCIS, you can add this case to your list of My Cases. What I did notice though is that when you add it to My Cases, you have to manually turn on mobile and e-mail notifications for the case, it doesn't do it by default. How often they actually send text/e-mail updates, I don't actually know. It would be nice if it was frequent.

Ok I created an account . Guess I got to wait until I get my Bio metric letter (even though it says "The receipt number consists of three letters-for example, EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC or IOE-and 10 numbers. You can find it on notices of action USCIS has sent you." On my I797 NOA (extension letter /acknowledgement of I751 was received), there is a WAC #. Sigh) before I can add a case and turn on notifications/alerts .

Thanks!
